Press and hold the RDS button to turn the RDS back off (I think it'll beep)...then the antenna will only be up when the radio is on.

it adjusts the antenna for the best reception. you can get a free manual on lexus's website.

Huh? RDS is for Radio Data System or something like that. It will show a messages/title and artist/radio station type or other information like traffic and what not. The reason it keeps the antena up is that it takes a little while for the radio to download the information so it will be ready the minute you turn back on the radio.

I turned mine off cause it was causing drop outs of music from the radio. I would be listening and all of a sudden my radio would go silent, like as if the gps was gonna tell me something and then the radio would start to play again. I turned off the RDS and I have zero problems now and my antena stays down when listening to a tape or CD.

But even with the RDS off your antena will still go up and down a bit depending on what frequency the station your listening to is to get the best reception.

I've noticed that too. "I don't know" is a perfectly acceptable answer sometimes! Or "I'm not sure; let me check and get back to you."...don't just BS me.
