Self-adjusting rear view mirrors?
Everytime I think I got this car figured out, I find a new feature - or at least I think I have. I just noticed that when I put my car in reverse, the two side mirrors adjust down slightly so that I can better see where I am reversing. Last time that happened, I thought something was wrong and adjusted the mirror back up. Put it back to drive, then to reverse, and the mirror didn't adjust again. Not sure how I can make it happen all the time, or whether it is even supposed to be that way. Has anyone else noticed this?

See Page 100 of the manual.
Speaking of rear view mirrors, I learned something just a couple of years ago about adjustng them. This may be old news to some of you, but it was new to me.
In your normal driving position, lean to the left until your head touches the window (assuming it's up ). Then adjust the outside mirror so the right edge just picks up the reflection of the right side of the car.
While driving, if the interior rear view mirror is also set properly, you should see the reflection of a vehicle behind you in that mirror first. Then, as it passes you, it will be in both the interior and exterior mirrors, then as it continues, you will see the vehicle in the outside mirror and in your peripheral vision outside the dirver door window. No such thing as a blind spot any longer!
Of course, this assumes that you will be driving slowly enough that someone would be passing you.

Good grief, Rod ... I can't imagine anyone reading that manual cover-to-cover and actually remembering all of it. I read the whole thing when I first got the car, but I'm still looking up stuff.
As for the Nav System manual, I don't know HOW many times I've read that, yet I still don't feel comfortable using all of its features.
BTW ... I love that rear view mirror action when backing up. That's a feature I would never have thought of, but I sure do appreciate it. And so does my neck.

The mirrors adjust down if you leave the right/left selector in either the right or left setting. If you leave it in the middle the mirrors will not adjust when you go in reverse.

Sometimes it works - sometimes it doesn't
One of my few complaints (should post on IRK thread?) is that the tilting in mine is unreliable. About 50% of time time one mirror either doesn't tip down or doesn't tip back. Sometimes its the right and somtimes the left.
The only time it works 100% correctly is when the dealer has it!
Its a little frustrating and I hope to get it taken care of when I take the car out of mothballs in the spring.
Feels like spring today (60 deg in NYC)...maybe its time...

Knicksfan ...
I'm 200 miles northeast from you and I'm going to take mine out of mothballs tomorrow! I just can't stand the fact that I could have driven that car 50 times during this incredibly mild winter.
Check blevinson's post or page 100 of your manual to find out why it's working sporadically.
