Default Won't shift to second gear

I have a 2002 SC430 with almost 72,000 miles. When I floor the gas pedal it revs high in first gear and then when it's about to shift to second it just cuts out. The engine remains on but it just stops giving power. I don't know if it's the car stopping the gas flow or what. I have a short air intake so I doubt it's the air flow. This does not happen if it I don't floor it and it doesn't even happen everytime I floor it. Maybe one out of every 5 times. What do you guys think is the problem?

There are some EVAP codes coming up via the check engine light. I was told to switch the gas cap and I did but still having problems....

Maybe one of the cylinders are misfiring.......or your running too lean.

What codes are you pulling? May be a trans solenoid code there would be my first guess.
