Default Problems w/Iforged wheels ??

I'm trying to decide on what new wheels to buy, and I'm considering 20" Iforged Astras for my SC (BIG bump to Derrick at D2 for all his help thus far). A couple friends of mine (who don't drive Lexus) have told me that they've had construction issues with Iforged wheels in the past. I don't have specific details.... just that the wheels weren't up to par and they got rid of them quick. Anyone who's owned Iforged ever had any problems? Any input would be appreciated.

1) I have a set of IForged Seneka's on my SC430. Had them for four years with absolutely no problems.

2) I've never seen anyone post a problem with IForged wheels in this forum, or the BMW, Mercedes, Porsche forums I follow.

3) In 2003 (approx,) a member here in the GS forum had the opportunity to tour and observe both HRE and Iforged wheel construction methods. His opinion was that IForged was superior to HRE in construction. (His name was Mantaray, if you want to do a search.)

If IForged's construction methods haven't changed in the last four years, I'd have no problem buying another set.

Just my 2cents...

bought Iforged evoloution 19's from Derrick about 5 years ago, no problems at all. They were strong as all outdoors, I did bend one here in WA but it was a big *** pothole.

My experinece says say not to rivets, they are a pain to clean around and I would probably not do high polish again.

Tony-
Been subscribed to your classified thread since it was new, and looked at your ad about 1,000 times already I really like them but decided on a different style (Astra), in black, too (My SC is black). Anybody w/a set of used 20" Black Astras w/SC offsets for sale?

I think that anyone who is considering 3-piece wheels needs to look at this: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...highlight=rain

Thanks to DaveGS4 (in 2004) for linking to this discussion about rain and 3-piece wheel problems. Per the discussion, the water trapping experienced with 3-pc wheel design doesn't happen with 1-pc or 2-pc designs.

I have the same problem with my i-Forged wheels. I like them, but had I known about the rain problems, I would have gone with a 2-pc design. It is frustrating to drop to 55mph in the rain on a long turnpike.

TXFM-

Can you post a pic of your car? I searched photoshop but couldn't find yours...

Now I'm really thinking about the water problem w/3-piece wheels.... I read the thread already but got the impression that it was an infrequent issue; now I'm hearing more and more about it and may want to go to a 1 or 2-piece wheel.
(Not trying to start a new thread on the problem; if anyone wants to comment on problems with water gathering in their 3-piece wheels, post it to that existing thread: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/show...highlight=rain )
Really appreciate the input so far on Iforged wheels. My concerns regarding their quality are no longer an issue.

Here's my original post on my new i-Forged wheels.
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=256751

They look great and are fine when it's dry. When I initially installed them, it was during a very dry period, and it was only when we began to get rain in early '07 that I noticed the problem.

Also, here's my car with the Rorora BBK.

TXFM-
Man, those Variants are killer! I couldn't decide between Astras or Variants, and I thought I was going w/Astras, since the only pic I could find w/Variants was on an Aston Martin and I couldn't picture them on an SC. Now I'm more confused than I normally am ....
I just read the thread AGAIN about water collecting.... it may sway my decision back to buying 1 or 2-piece again, since we get PUHLENTY of rain in Chicago. Or, I could just pick up and move to SOCAL

it is not a 3 piece wheel problem, it happens with my 2 piece Iforged wheels also. Its that the wheels are so wide that some water gets temporarily caught in the middle channel. It isnt that big of a deal to me.
