Default performance mode???

Ok, I have been reading several post on this forum and several people have mention "when I turn on the performance mode", or the " Performance mode". Ok, What is this "performance mode" Where is it? how do I turn it on and off? Is it a button? Because I know the corvette has a performance mode and a cruise mode. So, Anyone have any idea where its at? What year does this "performance mode" was added or is this some a extra addon that was done ? I am interested

Power button on earlier cars. Does not give any more HP, all it does it allow the car to rev up higher at part throttle or put another way shift the car lower in the rpm band and when off does not down shift as quickly. It does absolutely nothing for standing start acceleration. Your car will not be quicker, it will get get through the traps faster and the times will be the same. It just feels sportier.

The technician at Lexus told me basically the normal mode, ECT off, allows the torque converter to slip more. Providing a smoother ride/shifts. He also stated that since it is slipping more you would probably get better gas mileage in the performance ECT mode, depending on how you drive.

I can feel the difference, normal mode feels a lot more loose. I never drive in the normal mode.
