POLL: Temperature at which you will GENERALLY will put the top up because it is too cold to have the top down. NOT the coldest you've ever driven with the top down, but rather the AVERAGE TEMPERATURE at which you prefer the top to be up.
I think making the poll 45,50,55,60, and 65 would result in more accurate results. I dont think most people will have an exact temperature, just an average around the 5's
65's pretty much my cut-off, and that didn't even make JohnnyCake's list. Darn, guess I a wuss!
Although, it was 46 tonight and I had the top down. Windows up, tweed cap on, gloves, leather jacket, seat heater over half and climate control at 77!! (I was determined!)
I don't really like the look of convertibles with the top down and the windows up so, I generally don't do it, which is probably why my "normal" temp. threshold is higher than JohnnyCake's poll.
Usually 68 ish is my threshold but I have pushed it to 60. My favorite top down temps are 75-85, it’s the perfect mix of cool breeze and relatively warm comfort. Anything warmer and you begin to fry and since LA is usually the ladder I have a permanent tan from my glasses .
I typically won't go top down below 70. However it could be 102 and I'll still go top down (with the air on full blast, lol). Every once in a great while I'll go below that but it is extremely rare for me to do so.
My decision to put the top up usually has more to do with the intensity of the sun more than temperature. I usually only drive this car with the top down early morning/late afternoon, & not between 10am to 4pm.
Regarding temperature, I would say I'd still consider driving with the top down if it's above 10 degrees Celsius & the weather/sky is beautiful . . .
In the summer, I keep it up most of the time. If it's down, it's only in the very early morning or evening after the sun goes down. Sorta hot here then.
But, I drove it top-down the other morning when it was 46, and have driven it as low as 35 or so in the late Fall or Winter here when it's sunny. We, too, have a heater and gloves, etc!
I live in MN so the winters start earlier here. Ive had it down a couple times at 30, towards the begining of the spring. Usually have the windows rolled up, heater and heated seats blasted, jacket, gloves and hat. But the feeling of the cold air over my head just makes me anticipate summer even more. However, i usually freeze my butt off. Otherwise as long as it is not raining my top is down. I would assume that is why my trunck struts have gone...and warranty wont cover it for some reason.

I just turned over 100K mi on mine, but somewhere before I hit that while it was still in warranty, mine were replaced by Lexus. I can't see any reason that they can deny your warranty claim for new rear struts as long as you're still in the time frame, milage allowed. I'd go talk to the owner of the dealership. That's ridiculous.

I'll put the top down to drive two blocks. What does the top have to do with the struts? Isn't that a suspension part or am I showing my ignorance (wouldn't be the first time).

Johnny there are struts that keep up your trunk lid, What 02Ku is trying to imply is that he opens/closes the top so much that the gas struts that hold up the trunk lid are giving out.
02Ku is there a noticeable sound or difficulty when the top tried to open and close..... does the trunk lid try to close prematurely when you are operating the top?
