I know you probably said this before in other threads, but please forgive me for my lazyness has taken over me in searching. What makes your TQ different from PI in which the CEL won't come on?

Thanks. I don't remember reading that you were going with this brand of TQ.
I only went on the limited information available. The PI unit is known to kick on the CEL on most 430's. I have not come across any Lextreme units that have. Some say the stall difference is why the CEL comes on as the computer believes the unit is slipping. Others say that perhaps the weight difference causes the CEL. Then others say that running 2600 stall prevents this but that is a bit low. This unit is at 2800 stall. Whichever the reason is may be, so far no CEL on this car.

What do you mean by "horrible down low"? Did you lose low end torque? Is horrible the new "bad" that can either mean good or bad (or good?) ?
Because the RMM kit was based on a Vortech s/c, there was little low end hp and the parasitic drag from the blower just made things worse until the mid range when the power is just coming into play. Even with a very high hp (low numerical) pulley the car was a dog from the line.

So the s/c actually decrease low end torque compared to stock? Bummer..

Well it is not impressive to say the least which is why the 3.76 is still helpful for S/C cars with the Vortech unit. Could also be that the hp is so impressive up top that it magnifies the low end lag.

Lee it's great to hear you tried the Lextreme TC. I've been thinking of doing their TC in stead of the PI one. Have not heard too many people using it. If you get the same results for 1/4 the price why not.

Thanks PearlPower for the response. Correct me if I am wrong, basically the reason why some 430's get the CEL is because of stall speed? The lextreme TC has a lower stall speed compared to PI?

I am glad you put it in, it gives us good feedback.

Actually the stall speed is the same at 2800. It is speculation at this time why the Lextreme has not triggered the CEL on my car-300+ miles now-vs the PI unit. Could just be my car. Lextreme says that they have not heard or come across the CEL triggering with their TC on 430's.

Glad it is still working out nicely, and glad you mentioned that an Aux. Trans Cooler is a good idea. I was going to come back and post that.

Well, sigh, update on this mod. After mentioning above that this mod still felt softer vs my GS4 mod with the PI TC, Lextreme answered my email. They accidentally sent me a 2600 stall unit. We are currently working on how to remedy the situation. This also explains the lack of a CEL as anything under 2650 does not trigger it for those cars that would be a problem from what I understand. Damn, I would really hate to pull the trans out again in such a short period of time.
Stay tuned.

ah lee that's a bummer! how was this found out? that's going to be a lot of work to pull out the tranny again. but i agree, that definitely explains why it feels softer than the gs4

Lextreme should reimburse you in some way for your labor. I'd say they should tack on another year worth of warranty

Well, what hurts is the $50.00 in trans fluid, $67.00 in exhaust gaskets (I always run new gaskets), and my labor of course. Plus the shipping of the old unit back.
I am looking to get the correct unit to install and will update ince received and installed. I am sure things will turn out.

Hey Lee, did you ever get your 2800rpm stall TQ converter back? If so, is there much difference from the 2600rpm?

Just received it today! Lextreme has been xlnt in taking care of this situation.
Most likely it was my old core I sent to them and they rebuilt and changed the stall. So my old TC is back home.
I'm going to buy a trans jack tomorrow to make things safer and faster for this R&R.
I will get it installed within a week or so.
Anyone interested in buying a 2600 stall converter?
Lee
