Question Fire Extinguisher Installation...

Happy Thanksgiving!

I would like to install a fire extinguisher on my 2003 SC430. Have any of you SC430 owners done this? If so, what brand of fire extinguisher? Where did you place it? Who did your installation? Any info that anyone has will be most appreciated!

Default Why???

I can't figure out why someone would want to do this? I'm assuming you're not going to fall asleep while smoking in your SC...and it's not a poorly engineered Corvair that catches on fire when struck from the rear...ahhh...I know: you carry your laptop in your car and it has a Sony battery in it!! In that case, I might do the same. But when I drive my SC, work is the last thing on my mind!

sc seems like a very nice car to be puttin a extinguisher in a visible location, ,y vote is def for somewhere not visible like near the spare or with a first aid kit in the trunk or something, or the under the seat area works good for quick access...

unless you have a very modified car, i suggest you put your money on something nice for your car, or buy yourself some alcohol

hahaha very true
Fire extinguisher is a good idea, but not very necessary imho.
If you have fire extinguisher in all of your previous/current cars, then go ahead and do it again in this car.
For me, I'll just watch the fire burns it down and let insurance company take care of it.
For some reason, people become a little too nervous when they get this car. Even a simple oil-change or a flat tire suddenly becomes a big deal.
Relax yourself and enjoy ur ride !!!

I can't understand how anyone could NOT see the value of having a FE on board! Many years ago, on Highway 152, between Gilroy, CA and Los Banos, CA (for many years a notorious, accident prone stretch of highway) a car went off the road and a small fire started in the engine compartment. I stopped, along with several other motorists, to help get the passengers out of the car and I was able to put out the fire because I had a FE. That was my frame of reference when I asked if anyone had installed one in their SC430.

hahaha.. not all of us are against it.
Although I personally don't think it is very necessary, yet I am not against it especially you want to do it for a good cause.

It is like that idea that ppl want to put bullet-proof glass on their cars.

It's not a bad idea, but neither does a full tool kit, battery starter, battery cables, full-sized spare, extra oil/coolant/etc., air compressor, flat-tire repair kit, a survival kit (water, canned food),etc, etc. You have to draw the line somewhere, and instead of all that, I just carry my cell phone. But if I was carrying a FE, it'd be hidden for sure. Later.

IMHO you really don't want to see the extinguisher in the interior of a lexus.

Porshe owners usually attach them to the floor of the driver side directly in front of the seat (lying down of course) it does not get in the way etc.

However on a lexus with the nice leather interior and wood dash I think it would be an eye sore.

I put my extinguisher in my trunk. It is a good safety measure in case of a fire etc.

The only time I had one was years ago which I used on a lady's care of the freeway. Her oil cap went missing and the oil caught on fire which resulted in burned wires,etc... The extinguisher really did save her car and considering she had no money this meant alot. I even bought her new wires an cap with free install. My good deed for the month. Space is very limited in the SC though and more so when my NOS is installed.
