Default fuel pressure problem?

I went to fill up the car last night and the gas pump kept shutting off as though the fuel tank was full. But I only put in about $10 of gas. The fuel gauge inside the car went up to only about 1/3 full (from empty before going to the gas station). Then I switched pumps and the same thing kept happening. I could only put in another 5-10$ of gas. Not sure what's going on. I don't think it was the gas station since no other cars had a problem. I could only fill my talk half way. So there's a problem with the fuel pressure of the car? Anybody know how to correct this? thank god, the car is still under warranty

If the SC is under warranty, take it back to Lexus for service for EVAP checkout.

After the dealer checks it out please let us know what was causing this problem. Very interesting.

Previously I tried two different pumps at the same gas station (same thing happened again). I'm going to try a different gas station on my way to work tomorrow. I already called the local Lexus dealer to schedule my 30,000 mile service maintenance check for Monday (I'm about 700 miles over and I figured they could take a look at the gas tank if problem persists). I'll write back and let you guys know what happens. By the way, about how much will this 30,000 maintenance cost me? what might they try to sell me? thanks for your help

were you filling up with 91 octane? the sc430 is designed for 91 octane fuel and made so that 87 and 89 octane fuel nozzles dont fit. maybe you were using the wrong fuel?

I thought the nozzles are the same, it is which button you push selects the type of fuel you want.

I had the similar problem in my ES, and GS before.
What I did was just push the rear section of my car down 3-4 times and that problem was solved.
It was perhaps caused by some air pressure accumulated in the gasline tank.
I learned that trick from others while I was a teenager owning some motorcycles before.

I used 91 octane and switched pumps at the station. Then I went to another station and ran into the same problem (could only fill the tank half way).

I waited a few days before my tank went down to near zero. Then I was able to successfully fill my tank normally last night. Today I had me 30K mile service at the local dealer. They checked it out and said there was no problem. They had no explanation as to what happened.

Personally, I don't care as long as it doesn't happen again.

By the way, they charged me $599 + tax for the 30,000 check and work. It's over $600 with tax. Anybody else pay this much? (it's in the inflated New York City area)

My local dealer charges around $800 for the 30K mile. They change all fluids in the car and all filters and adjust whatever.
