winshield cracked from spraying washer fluid?
Today i had my car pqarked in my friend's driveway and i just jgot in my car and the car compyter said it was about 85 degrees out. I put the top down then sprayed the winshield fluid to clean off the winshied and then heard a pop and the winshield was cracked. Its looks like a reverse j shape going all the way to the top and coming down about 1/3 the way down...
The car was stationary the whole time so it couldnt of been a rock or anything... The crack looks like its sandwiched between the layers of glass..
Anyone ever hear of anything like this??
Would it be covered under warranty? I realy didnt expect my windshield to crack just by spraying washer fluid!

I doubt the washer fluid had anything to do with cracking the windshield. That was just a coincidence, I would think.
It appears from your description that the service department will be able to tell that this crack was not caused by an external impact, so I would not think you would have any trouble getting this fixed under warranty.
It is a very strange incident.

Ouch, I just went through a new windshield install just months ago due to a high speed (me) rock. Sorry to hear of your misfortune.
It can happen in very hot temperatures but not heard of at 85 degrees.
I would think the warranty should cover it . I have also heard of a few others SC's with cracked windshields for no apparent reason. Some have said that it could be the flex of the car if it is not parked in a flat area-not sure-I just know that as often as I jack up mine on one end, I notice very little flex and no glass issues.
Let us know what Lexus says.

just stopped by the lexus dealer yesterday to have the crack checked out by the service manager...
he examined it to verify there wasnt any external damage and agreed to cover it under warranty..
i have an appt on tues to put it in =)
i guess next time ill wait for the window to cool off a bit before spraying... i guess it was too sudden a change in temperature...

Your service manager is certainly making life easy on you.
85 ambient is not the same as direct sunlight heating. Even so, this seems unlikely to be the ONLY cause. Many time an impact will create a stress but JUST under the amount for a crack to actually form. This stress is just waiting for a trigger and the washing fluid MAY have been just that.
Maybe the SC430 windshield is under more stress post manufacturing due to shape or some unusual process and thereby more susceptible to cracking than normal. If this is the case then a warranty replacement has merit. Otherwise, road hazard.

I've seen this happen before. Was pretty "common" on the W220 S class cars from MB. Direct sunlight, washer fluid or AC on full blast would cause stress fractures in the windshield. Rare, but not unheard of.
