I'm scrapping my stock wheels and going for some high quality forged 19" or 20" with new NON-RFT tires. I like Michelin Pilot Sports, but I can't decide on 19" or 20", and I know nothing of offsets, spacers, etc., so help a brother out with some solid advice!
I live in Chicago, and the roads suck, so maybe 19" is better with a little taller aspect ratio? Give me advice on what wheel/tire/offset/spacer(?) sizes and brands would fit the best. I want the totally-filled wheel-well look. I also would consider new springs/shocks or maybe coilovers to lower my ride 3/4". Pics would be great, too. (My ride is a stock-suspension Black '02 SC, and I switch to stock wheels w/snow RFT's in the winter.) THANKS.

In the EXACT same boat as you... just got a black '02, need some larger rims, live in chicago... let me know what you end up with.

 

feel free to search for thread started by me on my sc430 with 20s. you can see pics there on the drop.

if you get 20s, you can get overspec tires (1" larger diameter) so you have the same profile as 19s, but at the same time you might experience rubbing. 20s with overspec wheels will also fill the wheel well better obviously

if you don't want any rubbing, then 19s are probably the way to go so you can have some cushions on tires.

lower the car on coilovers, not springs. coilovers are the right way to go

Looks like 20x9F & 20x10R with offsets in the high 20's, adding coilovers and just picked up a Wald kit.... the hardest part is deciding on what wheel to go with. I am switching my setup to 19's. 19x9.5 +26mm offset in the front and 19x10.5 +29mm offset in the back. I am going to use 275/35/zr19 in the back but I am undecided with the front tire size. The car will be lowered on Tein S-Techs as well. Any thoughts? Thanks

 

if you ask me, i would probably stick with 275/30 in the back

the front, i would use 245/35, find one that's good on stretching like toyo

 

Anyone ever put the G-Spider Wheels on an SC430? I am going to go very conservative and I'm thinking of just the 18x8 in front and 18x8.5 in the back. Can anyon suggest the offset's i should be using as well as a recommended tire size? I know that 245/40/18 in the front will work. But will 275/40/18 fit in the rear?

I forgot to mention. I have a set of used Pirelli 245/40/zr19 fronts and 275/40zr19 back. Is this too big for my setup? I wouldnt mind using them since they are just sitting in the garage. Thanks!

2x Rear Wheels 18x8.5 10-Spokes, 5-lug, 4-1/2 Bolt Patter, 50mm Offset, 6-13/16 Back Space

they are replacing the stock "pie plate" wheels with P245/40ZR-18 Continental ContiExtreme on them. I'm keeping the tires since they are just 5000 miles new.

Question for you guys-I'm looking to put
305/25/20's on a 20x10 rim with a +41 offset on the back of my sc430
will this fit?? If not will it fit if I roll the fenders?

 

Do we need high wheels for our sc's?

There is a guy selling Maya RT5 chrome 19's here for $2200 shipped. He says the fronts are high and the rear is low.

They are 9.5 with 29 or 30 offset with 245/35/19 on front and 10.5 with 29 or 30 offset and 275/30/19 for rear.

Would this be an optimal setup for an sc?

I don't think I will lower the car now. I may later though (1 or 2 years). Would 20's be better if I'm not lowering? The only trouble I'm finding with 20's is that I can't find any inexpensive tires for them. They are mostly over $300. I've found 19's for 130 front and $170 rear. That's $600 for tires vs $1200.

What do you guys do with your wheels for winter?

Is it ok to put winter tires on the stock wheels (or will winter salt ruin those too) or is it better to buy a set of cheap wheels with winter tires in one of those package winter tire deals?

Is it wise to buy from someone with a low post count? Is there recourse if the wheels never show up? Do credit cards refund your money if something goes bad? I know they did with an online purchase and said they would do the same for an ebay purchase.

 

Currently I am with stock 18 all around. I am strongly considering 245 45 19" all around. Lexus advises not to do that as it will throw off both speedometer and GPS. I'm not an aggressive driver and was only going to 19s with new custom wheels and little better look. I really don't want to screw up anything else. Perhaps I should stick with stock config. Any advice here will be helpful.
