Hello there
Track conditions vary. Are you invoking traction control at all? Disable this at the launch. The car is heavy and it takes a second for the car to get into the powerband. A torque converter will drastically change that and turn the car around into an animal off the line.
As far as the smell is concerned, have it checked out. It could be your tires spinning creating the smell. It could be something else.
A little more info would be helpful such as launch technique, etc..
As far as the girls car is concerned. Correct, this car ATTRACTS girls like nothing else I have driven.

lee is right, make sure you turn off the vsc, and put the car is pwr mode. that's pretty much all you can do

the 430 engine setup has a full drive by wire system, and to be honest i don't really like the setup and it's kinda "slow", and the throttle response is not as sensitive as i want it to be

the newer (04+ ls430, 05 gs430, and 06 sc430) 430 engine with the 6 speed trannies have a new computer setup and timing, and the engine seems to be a lot more responsive

Yes, that is one of the first things i noticed when i got my o5 sc about a month ago. It takes to much time for it to downshift into the passing gear when you punch it at a low speed. I thought the car just had to get broken in, But I guess that's not the case by listening to you guys.

My SC has this lag also. I think it has to do with the drive-by-wire throttle system. I've driven an IS300 as a loaner and it also had this lag when I would punch it. I think Lexus just needs to refine their technology more on this because I haven't noticed it in other cars.

Torque converter will take care of most of that lag. I intend to put one in next month. Made a huge difference in my GS.

lee is right, tc will help a lot on the lag.

and try to drive any of the 400 engine series (gs400 for example), and also the 04-06 ls430, 06 gs430 and sc430, and you will notice the improvement on the throttle response. i drove the ls430 and the gs430 and i was very impressed with the "fix"

Henry,

You are correct but let's correct DubLexusSC on one point ; the SC is not a performance car. A great tourer yes but performance not really.

good point too, well taken. i really don't think my sc430 is a high peroformance car. it's a luxury performance cruiser for sure, but i wouldn't put it together with cars that i would wanna race in
