Question remote top help

I got my LuxLink installed by a high end audio shop
and the top goes down but then the front windows roll
back up. What's wrong?
I like the system but I don't think the windows
are suppose to roll back up after the top goes down.
Mine is a2002

Anyone had this problem?

i think they should? i will have to do it again this weekend if you want.

if you use the normal way to put down the top, after the first beep (when the top is down), if you continue to push the button the windows will roll back up

i think the remote top down is just imitating that

When you put the roof down the windows should stay down. And when you put the roof up and keep the button pressed after the beep, the windows will then go up. At least that’s what my 2005 does.

nop, i am sure that's not the case. if you push and hold the button the top will go down. when it's done, it will beep. if you dont' let your finget off the botton and continue to hold, the windows will go back up. i am 100% about this

and i have 05 too

According to Steve Larkin (LMW) this is correct operation for the remote top on a 2002. At the end of each cycle (either top up or top down) the windows roll up. The remote top electronics get confused if stopped short of completing a full cycle.

I once had a situation where I triggered the remote top as I approached my car. The top and windows were both up. The windows rolled down and then back up and then everything stopped. When I asked Steve about that one, he asked if I had stopped the top without letting it complete a full cycle when I used the remote top the time before this. Sure enough and all it was doing here was getting to the end of the cycle I previously cut short.

I won't speak for later models since I don't know and their operation isn't relevant to the question.

it's mentioned in the manual as well. if the auto top down do it that way, the button should do the same too

Well I tried holding the button down after the top goes down
and the front windows go back. That makes the front windows
go down.
Is that what you mean to rominl

Carpe Diem,
you said "The remote top electronics get confused"
How do I get it back in sink.

Hi Joe,

That's what the partial operation I experienced was doing, getting the top back in synch. After that short cycle, it knew the top was up. After it reset, I triggered it again and it went through a normal top down cycle which includes rolling the side windows back up at the end.

haha guess we are all confused now. ok, i will describe in whole what happens in my car (05), and seems like it's the same for 03 (andrew's car). i can try to ask my sales tomorrow about that on the 02.

i am in the car. the top is up, and the windows are up. i press on the top down button and hold on to it.

1) windows start to roll down
2) trunk opens up
3) top start to goes down
4) top is down
5) trunk closes
6) a "beep" "ding" sound
7) wait a bit (1 sec?)
8) windows roll up again
9) another "beep" (or two beeps?)

It seems to be important not to interupt the cycle. For instance if I use the remote to drop the top and then jump into the car and insert my keys before the "top" cycle has finished then the steering wheel will not deploy as usual. It takes a while to get used to.

Guess I didn't have the patience to wait that long for the windows to go back up. Must have been distracted by the mechanical wonder show of the trunk and roof ;-) I stand corrected.

umm, interesting, i have never tried that yet. probably should do it some time. my "problem" is that i activate the top down from far far away, so by the time i get to the car, everything is done

hahha yeah, no problem. i think the whole process makes sense,it gives you a "break" to not let the windows come up.

for me though, i don't really like too much wind, so i usually keep the windows up
