Just purchased a 2010 SC430. The silver backing plate on the radio as well as around the bottom of the gearshift lever have black smudges/stains from wear. Any way to safely clean them without destroying the finish? I had another SC a while back & tried a cleaner but wound up doing more damage as it took some of the finish along with it. Also, the steering wheel has leather wear on the left. Is this something that can be remedied or do I need to buy a reconditioned/used steering wheel and have it swapped out? Photos attached. Thanks!
As far as the silver around the gear shift, it almost looks as if they tried to improve the silver as you did and took off parts of finish as it's blotchy -- I have no ideas for this repair.
Maybe the Seat Doctors can help with your steering wheel. You can always text or email them to ask. Otherwise, I'd consult a leather upholsterer for repairs.
