Default Intermittent Door Open Sensor

Recently, I have noticed that when going around a right hand turn (spiritedly) sometimes my door open light / chime / map lights activate briefly. This is now happening more often. Sometimes I can activate the "malfunction" just by pressing against my door driving straight and level. Has anyone ales had this issue? I've looked at the switch surface and the striker plate on the door but don't see any unusual wear (it's an '03 with 52k miles on it). My first guess is to remove the striker that is screwed into the door and put a small shim underneath. Just checking to see if anyone else has had this issue. Thanks!!

Hello,

Was the car in any Accidents at any point?
Do you feel the door Moving at all as you Press on it?

In all the time that I've been working with cars, I have never seen one of those Door Switches fail in any way, even on cars where it was the only component that worked properly. But then still, there is a first time for everything, so there is no harm in trying to move the Driver Switch to the Passenger Door and vice-versa (they should be identical) to see if this issue will transfer over to the other side along with the Switch. If that's the case, it would be the definitive proof of failure, and pretty much the best case scenario in your case.

Outside of that, one other test you can perform is to close the door Slowly until the First Click of the Latch, and then Push on the Door from the Outside until you hear the Second Click, which would indicate that the door is Fully Closed. See how much force it will take to reach the Second Click, and how well that compares to the Passenger Door during the same test.

Hope this helps and best of luck!
