Default Control Panel

Hello all, terrible day. I was replacing the ratio and pulling off the control panel. Only the faceplate came off and it disconnected from the board. When I reconnected it something shorted. The clock and hazards work, but nothing else. I purchased a working replacement but still have the same results. The abs, VSC and VSC off lights are new on. I checked nearly all the smaller fuses but didn't pull any big ones as I've never pulled those. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.

Man, that stinks. I feel for you.

My first step would be to see if all the harnesses are plugged in tight to the new controller. Each harness does a different function. The one on the right does the roof, one does the AC controls etc, etc

Do the part numbers match on the controllers? where did you get the controller?

Got it of eBay. Same part numbers on outside and on the board itself. Made sure it was all tight. Given the other lights that came on, I think the problem is further down the line from the controller. Called one mechanic that does Toyota/Lexus and flat out said take it to Lexus.

Ok, talk me through this further, since your ABS should not be effected by the controller.

What is not working?
Does the panel light up?
Does ANY of the Ac work?
Does the roof light up?

Does your car drive?
Have you read any codes?

Is it your ABS light that is on, or your Check Engine light?

If you have a check engine light, the vsc lights go on, just to attract your eye to your Check engine light

The panel lights up and only shows the clock, which can be changed. The hazards work but no other buttons work, not even the open or close for the navigation. The car drives fine. Windows work. As far as I can tell everything else works. No check engine light. The only lights on are abs, VSC and vsc off. I'll have to check the roof light but I'm pretty sure it's fine.

I meant the roof light, as in the light that is on the button when you try to lower your roof.

Do you have a scanner to read the Codes? If not drive it to a national auto parts store and they will usually read them for you. They can't read the toyota codes, but hopefully they can read your ABS codes.

Gotcha. No that light isn't on. I don't have a code reader so I'll have to get on that. Thanks

Or you can just go to the auto part store and have them read the codes for free.

I am guessing you will need a code reader that can read toyota specific codes. Those tend to be a little pricier.

This one claims to read Toyota codes, but I do not know how well it does that

How sure are you that the replacement worked ?

Where do you live ? Someone close by may be able to help diagnose.
