Default ecm replacement

Hello,

I recently got a diagnosis for a failed ECM. The total costs for replacement, labor and reprogramming is 1042.62. I was wondering if someone has been through this and could give some insight if this worth replacing or if I should get a new vehicle since I've been having issues (02 sensor, radiator cracked, and now this)

Go to https://ebay.com and type in SC430 ECM in the search bar.

Two things will come up. ECMs from wrecked cars and places that can fix your ECM. Contact one of them and ask how the process works.

Then find an independent Toyota mechanic (not the dealer) Ask them to take the ECM out for you (You will need a ride home because the car won't run without it) Send the ECM in for repair. Ask the independent mechanic to fix the radiator and the hoses and to flush and fill your cooling system while they wait for the ECM. Also ask them to fix the O2 sensor.

My guess is all of this work will cost less than the $1050 you were quoted for the new ECM.

You will have your car back, a small business will have a new customer, and the environment will be cleaner since your car will be running more efficiently. And everyone lives happily ever after

Quantum Auto is talked about for reprogramming ECU's. But I see on their webpage that they sell ECU's.

Ebay has them for less than $100 to $600. All you need is screwdriver and instructions for programming your key.

If you swap your ECM, you have to have your VIN programmed into it, which is why i recommended repairing the old one.

ooops, when I did my own search on ebay, all I saw was used ECM's.

When I got more specific on my search this came up, a place to repair your ECM, so all you have to do is plug and play it
