Fired up the baby this morning to get gas ... was really near empty.
She ran very poorly, and the gauges went crazy!
The poor performance made me wonder if the last bit of gas in the tank is crap. Not sure about the lights going nuts!
Things finally settled down and all the lights returned to normal and the engine performed as usual before I filled it up.
I don't recall this happening before -- and I never allow the fuel to get this low.
I'm going to plug in a scanner and see what codes were generated.
Dang, DshngDaryl!
I swear you are spot on most of the time.
I did have the alternator replace in April of this year -- I purchased one from a wrecked SC430 for a fraction of the cost -- looks like it might cost me more than I expected. I'll go check the battery now!
Thanks, as always.
Yes, that sounds right. Your battery was probably low from sitting.
Once the engine started, it recharged the battery. I think you problem is resolved, however if your radio goes off and your dash flickers while you are driving, your alternator is definitely going bad
Discovered what seems to be going on and causing the rough idle, etc.
Plugged in a scanner and determined that cylinder 5 is misfiring! Not sure why.
I looked at previous service records to see if the plugs have ever been changed. Couldn't find anything. Current mileage is about 89,000
Could also be a dirty injector -- who knows. This puppy may be getting too expensive to keep
Took the baby to my local shop -- they are replacing all the plugs for the very first time (as far as I know), as well as one coil (whatever that is).
Total cost about $460ish
My expectation is that this will fix the misfiring on cylinder 5 and hopefully any other related issues.
Appreciate those of you who followed along and made suggestions (DshngDaryl)!!!!

Yep, got the baby back yesterday afternoon.
Replaced all the plugs and one ignition coil.
Total cost $430
Running like a champ again.
Thanks for asking!
