Hello, this is my first post so please forgive me if there are already posts on this problem but I wasn't able to find the answer. I have a 2002 sc430 that runs good and all but the windows does not drop slightly when the doors are open and closed. Initially I thought it was a fuse or something but checking all fuses seems fine. This happens on both sides. The windows do go up and down, manually or automatically, fine with the press of the button. This is a problem bc whenever we open the door and close it, the window will hit the top of the roof. Have anyone ran into this issue and if so, please kindly share your fix to it.
Thank you in advance for any help.
Mike
As I recall, there is a procedure to reset the window travel limit...a member on the forum had a similar situation and the fix was a simple one...search it
Yes, if you set your travel limit settings, then your window will know what to do. I think it is as easy as holding the down button until it goes all the way down and holding it for 3 seconds. Do the same on the up button.
There are specific steps you can find online. You would be better finding them and following them because it has been a long time since I did it.
No, you folks all misunderstand. Other convertibles drop both windows slightly by fraction of an inch when door opens and raise them back when doors close. This is mainly with ragtops.
OP, sc430 is done to precision and doesn’t need to drop door windows when a door opens. Sc430 doesn’t do this. This is not a problem. Glass of the door seals against the roof rubber gaskets by simply closing the door.
If retraining the window travel (hold down, then hold up) doesn’t help, look into adjusting the roof gasket.

First off, thank you all for replying and shedding light on this issue I'm having.
This is exactly what I was referring so. Most frameless doors I have seen all do this same thing when opening and closing. I'm surprised to hear that Lexus doesn't actually do this. So I need to "relearn" the close limit on these windows? btw. how do you adjust the roof gasket? It's hitting the convertible top itself. As of now my temporary solution is to crack the windows a bit each time I open and close the doors.

I’m not sure if this is due to roof adjustment or body damage (only guessing). It could be the roof closes “too far” due to wear of seals or limiter switches. I thought only Ferraris suffered from this, but apparently Lexus does too. Proper diagnosis might come from Lexus service center; I don’t recall seeing this symptom on this forum. At least it shouldn’t cost 40 grand to fix.
