2002 sc430 convertible top issue
great forum with tons of great information. My issue is with my top. It will open and close fine, but the red light on the open and close stays illuminated. It also beeps when I drive my car. I figure it could be a micro switch issue, but, my auto windows don’t operate in auto mode, I refoamed my two front speakers and I didn’t reset the motors on each side, so I was wondering if that might be contributing to the main top ECU not seeing the end of cycle. The one caveat is, I don’t remember my key and auto windows ever working in the past, and the red light switch would go out at the end of the cycle. I will reset my windows tomorrow with the 2mm hole at window motor. I had messed with two of the micro switches where the top connects where it closes. No luck, I had disconnected the top ECU in trunk and reattached connector with now luck. Other than the annoying beep, the top operates normally, occasionally if it won’t close, I turn off the key and then it will close. I’m also thinking of getting a copy of tech stream to see if I’m getting any codes, as I believe there are 22 micro switches. I’ve heard the tech stream is sort of sketchy when you get a copy off Amazon. Sorry, I’m not being too articulate. Have had my SC for 15 years. Thanks for any and all information, I know there are some experts here on the infamous SC too problems. 🙏
I think the windows closing is an after thought and not necessarily tied to the end of the cycle. (but I could be wrong)
My first thought is the pins that lock into the windshield frame aren't engaging fully and causing the flashing light. I would check the holes and see if there are anything blocking them.
You can look at this Lexus document that shows the closing procedure and ECU checks. You can see if you can find the fault. Glancing through it, it does seem like the window check is part of the system

after reading your documents further, the indicator light is on, and the warning buzzer is beeping continuously, which according to the warning control, the ECU thinks my roof is half open, when it’s either fully closed, or fully opened, the indicator lights are saying it’s half open. I would think if it’s an issue with the top two rods not seating correctly, the roof when fully opened, the indicator light would go out. Definitely something not right. Still probing,
