Default 2002 SC430 Top

When going thru the process of closing the top, after the top comes down and locks, the last sequence is the windows go up. Sometimes that last sequence of windows going up does not happen. Instead the light on the button goes off, the windows don't go up, and the top is inoperable for from days to months. Anyone had this experience?

I have not but it sounds like a position sensor is not being activated or has a bad connection.

Your best bet is to work with someone who has access to techstream, which is toyota's diagnostic software.

The dealer has it, many independent toyota shops have it, many of our fellow CL Members have access to it. If you do a search, you can find out how you can also get access to it.

There is something in the closing procedure that is not finishing. Unfortunately, the error code isn't stored and you have to use techstream to read it as it occurs. Once you find out what the error is, then you can figure out which part is giving you trouble.

If you watch this video, you can see the opening and closing procedure. Most likely the problem lies in your trunk closing, since it is the last thing to happen before the windows go up. Either a micros switch isn't reading, or maybe it isn't latching properly
