Default Another Electrical/ Electronic question!

So, my wife parked her 02 last week, and all was good except the radio had quit working about 2 weeks ago( guessing amp problem again, but didn't look at it yet.)
Anyway, started it today to go to church. The brake and ABS lights came on, then when we took off the speedometer didn't work. I then noticed the miles to empty wasn't changing either. I haven't tried looking at anything yet. Any suggestions and help!!

Sounds like a low battery voltage issue. I'd take the battery out, go to an auto parts store, and have them charge it up for free. That should fix it. Or if you have a trickle charger at home.

Time for the alternator. But have it checked first.

The battery was 12.5 volts when I checked it cold. It jumped to 13.6 volts with car running, A/C on full and headlights on. I think those can be ruled out. So, I am puzzled as where to look next.

i don’t remember all of the symptoms for the clock spring, but it may be something to look up.

also, do you have a code reader or tech stream?

What are the conditions there in NC? Heat, humidity, salt, and rodents can all wreak havoc on one's electrical system. Check for corrosion on connectors and grounds that have been exposed to the elements and visually inspect for lose, or chewed-on wiring (if rodents are a possibility). Has any work been done on the SC recently...sometimes wiring can be compromised during maintenance/repairs.

Good luck troubleshooting this. When you find the gremlin, please report back so we can all be on the lookout for similar issues in our own SC's.

Do you have rodent infestation? Do you see any rodent droppings near or in the engine bay? It can cause weird symptoms.

It is a really big jump to think your ECU went bad...

But I think your ECU went bad (or the wires to it have been damaged)

You can look at this PDF and see what you can see

Oh, before we take such a big jump, have you checked the fuses?

My garage is heated and air conditioned. There doesn't appear to be any rodent issues. I am going into the fuses next week, as I have been pushing to finish a project before this weekend, which I finished today and we have out of town guests this weekend. I have an electrical shop manual. I just need to look at it a bit. I am a retired master electrician but I despise working on car electrical systems, especially electronics!! Thanks for the suggestions. I will report back.
