Flashing/blinking lights and battery problem
Hi,
I am having issues with my front and back lights blinking after I lock my car and walk away. Initially I thought I had solved my problem by turning my lights to 'auto' which stopped the blinking. However, after one week my battery was totally dead. I immediately replaced with new battery, and one week the battery went again. Just today the same thing happened again to the dismay of both myself and the company that has now replaced my battery three times, free under warranty. In between all this I have been talking with the usual suspects, such as Lexus and other car auto repair shops with the usual feedback. Usual feedback being .... 'leave it with me for a few days and we will charge you an arm and a leg, and if you are really lucky we'll tell you what the problem is'
Anyway my fellow Lexus lovers, I would appreciate any help or feedback if you have experienced the same thing, and/or any ideas on how to resolve this issue.

yes (I am having issues with my front and back lights blinking after I lock my car and walk away. Initially I thought I had solved my problem by turning my lights to 'auto' which stopped the blinking) ....
The typical cause of mysterious battery discharges like you are experiencing is a failure of the headlights to extinguish automatically after the engine is turned off and the car is exited. The feature that automatically extinguishes the headlights does not have any controls and is always enabled. Failure of a doorjamb switch is the most common cause.
We have discussed this extensively in our forum. A search for "doorjamb" will help you find some of the discussions.

Thank you for your feedback jmcraney, I will check the links you suggest. Before asking the forum for help I looked in the usual places such as lights being left on doors, windows and sunroof etc. The only connection I can think of is the two front headlamp bulbs that a garage replaced for me a few months ago. The bulbs they replaced were not original so I'm thinking that this could possibly be related ?

Again thanks for your feedback. In my opinion, I think it may be related to this. My battery was running absolutely fine when I had may car in the workshop for paint related work. Whilst it was there I asked them to change my headlamp bulb which was not working. They called me to say that it was best that I change both, which I agreed to. When I came to pick up my car after the paint job the car would not start because of flat battery. As I said it was working perfectly before. I changed the battery for new one, and this was the first of three brand new batteries in two months.
