Hello all,
Does anyone know how hard it is to get the center console cup holder out of 2002 SC430? I love the birds eye maple cover and don't want to mess it up, but I don't really want the cup holder that pops out from under it, I would much rather have the space for a small storage compartment. Would love to hear from someone who has been into it before I start hacking into it ....angle grinder should do it ...just kidding.
Thanks!

It's all one assembly.
That would be a major fab job to replace the innards.
The actual cover screws on, but that's just the cover.
OP here, thanks for the response. So if I'm following correctly, the "wood" cover is held on with screws. I assume that would be up from underneath, as they don't show. Which part of the assembly has the hinges and latch attachment? I am not daunted by having to fabricate a box for under the lid, but I would want the cover to function and appear the same when closed, so I need the hinge and open/close mechanism to work correctly.
Anyone else been into this thing? Surely someone has had to replace a broken cup holder at some point!
Thanks Again!

Yes, I replaced my cupholder with another, not really that big of a deal! Remove the center console top (google it, lots of videos on the subject) then its pretty obvious how to go about it.
OP again, Thanks loads for responses. I've been poking around the site and finally managed to find older threads with the information I was looking for. I had tried to search before I started, but am not adept at this sort of thing and no doubt did it wrong. Anyway I'm much handier at actually making things so it doesn't look like it should be too tough. I'll let you know how it comes out. May be a bit as there are things higher on the list.
