Default Cup Holder Question

Hey all. I just bought a 2009 SC430 with 65K Miles. I love the car and everything is still in excellent condition.....except the cup holder. When I press open the cup holder the black plastic "collars" don't fold out. If I pry them gently they will pop open and then all is well, until next time. I can't see any spills or other "sticky" stuff in the cup holders and the binding doesn't feel sticky, it's more like a mechanical issue holding the fold-out from deploying until it is snapped free. I can't see anything that would cause this when it is open. I'd appreciate any advice on what to do to remedy this. Other than that the car has been perfect in almost every detail. I've added the backup camera from SC430 MODS and love it. The front suspension seems a little mushy but only when slowly going over a speed bump or deep driveway hump. Thanks and and have a great day with your SCs.

remove the cup holder assembly and wash it in soapy water…my guess is a spill…
see pic, the cup holder will detach from the main assembly, look for the screws on the bottom.

After you got it cleaned, be sure to get this to prevent spill in the future.

I second that I bought those for both my 2006 SC and my sons 2005 SC and have never spilled a drop. Of all the things I love about the SC the one thing I hate is that POS of a cup holder. Engdavis I highly recommend you follow GmanSC's recommendation.

Coffee or soda spill not only makes the cup holder stuck, it also can ruin the electronic components below. And trust me, you will spill coffee or soda drink with just a hard brake or sudden acceleration.
