Default Rear trunk supports replacement??

I’m looking to replace the gas struts holding the trunk up. Online Lexus struts pair are 122.00 w spoiler. Amazon struts pair are 30.00 no spoiler. What is a spoiler. What should I buy. Do I need this spoiler or go the cheap rout

I replaced mine with the Amazon part number replacement. No problems. I did them all at the sametime FYI. I would guess Spoiler is in reference to the spoiler on the trunk and I've never seen one without.

I’m confused. They give You a new spoiler for 122.

Try Lift Support Depot

You want the spoiler version as the spoiler adds considerable weight to the trunk lid.

Just be aware that the lid does not lift much when unlocked.

Literally just enough to get your fingers under the edge.

No.

The spoiler adds weight to the trunk. The strut supports the weights or trunk or hood.

I would avoid the Beneges struts on Amazon. Like others wrote in reviews, they would not hold up my trunk. The second set I bought were Boxi brand on Amazon and they were way stronger and worked perfectly despite saying they were “non spoiler”. So far so good after 1.5 years.

why would they make struts that don’t open the trunk all the way. Makes no sense. They are supposed to copy the oem specs. Also, there is a brand called Tuffs but it’s w/o spoiler. The packaging looks good. Also, does the spoiler on my car come off, or would it show some type of hole if it did come off

the OEM struts don’t open it without you lifting it
spoiler removal can be fun

just installed the Boxi and works good. Almost bought Lift Supports Depot/Strongarm but they were $40 vs $15 for Boxi.

I installed Boxi gas shocks in 2017. They are still working great. No problems with trunk falling down even in cold weather.

I just ordered Boxi struts for the hood and trunk. I'll let you know.

My replacement supports after a couple of years (gone through 2 sets already Lift Supports Depot through my 8 years or ownership), are still working enough to lift it and I can slip my fingers and manually lift the trunk, and do my business. If I need to have it up for longer, I use vise grips with cloth protection, apply them on the shaft (on both) then I can do my business for whatever purpose. I do not know if the Lexus ones will last much better than aftermarket. I use my SC for pleasure so I rarely need trunk space.. Try the original Lexus parts, and judge for yourself on longevity of use. Buy a couple of sets and when they get tired, replace them.
