I recently purchased a SC430. When I bought the car I checked out the roof and everything worked fine. I purchased the car a couple of weeks ago and have only driven or operated the top a few times. However, when I stopped at my friends for the weekend after buying the car I must have opened 5 or six times with no problems. Since I have been home I have expeienced on three occasions where the top does not want to open. The first time I read on here about cycling through the trunk button a few times. I did that and it worked.
The 2nd time it wouldn't open, I tried the glove box button but it did not work. I then read on here to disconnect the battery for a minimum of 30 mins. and the top worked again. The third time (today) it worked three or four times while in town and got ready to come home and it would not open. I just got home and disconnected the battery for 30 mins and the top is working again. What is causing this? I want to also ad I only got the vallet key with the car. So I am unsure if disconnecting the battery causes a temporary reset to the lockout system. It just doesn't appear to be a motor related issue. Any help is appreciated. Thanks Jeff

when it does not work, is the red LED on the switch blinking?
when it works, the red LED should be solid red while you are moving it.
the trunk cover must be “seated” in the slot correctly. There is a micro switch in there…so if the LED is blinking red when it won’t move, the micro switch may be the cause
No light on the switch when it does not work. When it does work, it is solid red and beeps when fully closed or opened. When it does not work, I check and reseat the cargo cover.
