Default SC400 under 3000 lbs.

For you SC400/W58 guys, do you know how much your cars weigh?

Been trying to dig up weight info on these 2 motors and SC's in general.
I found what seem like legitimate weights for SC300 w/5 spd's....

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...t-results.html

3311 lbs and 3320 lbs sounds lighter than than I expected.

I'm thinking there's still some good weight to lose there with...

the 1uz-fe vs 2jz-ge weight difference
a CF hood
couple racing buckets
LS400 brake swap
pull the sunroof
single exhaust
a little swiss cheese here and there.

do you guys think it's possible to get a SC400+W58 down dipping just under 3000 lbs(2990 lbs for instance) while keeping the AC and some sort of sound deadening to keep the car decent to drive on the streets?

I'm reading about race/drift cars that are near 2800-2900 lbs, but those are with 2jz-gte's and full cages. Those 2 alone are a good 200-250 lbs. on top of an SC400.

absolutely not...hell no...our cars are tanks.......unlessssssss u

put lighter wheels
pull all your seats out & interior throw a single bucket in
cf doors, hood, trunk,
get rid of your high beams
ls400 brakes are gonna weigh more if anything
sunroof delete
single exhaust
fuel cell
light weight battery
fiberglass fenders
fiberglass bumpers
cf mirrors
plexi-glass instead of glass windows
pull ac
pull stereo
pull speakers

and now u might as well throw a cage in and a huge engine and make your car a drift machine...

Why would ls400 brakes weigh more? Where are you getting your information from?

any SC under 3000lbs, good luck. 5-speed, auto, 300 or 400, these are HEAVY cars. You want light weight, buy a Miata, or an MR2. You want a car that sits in its own class, and has the perfect balance of luxury and sport to it, then you have an SC with the down fall of it being a bit heavy set.

Solution..Make more power to compensate for the car being heavy.

Eventually you can only make so much power and hit a limit. The next step would be to put the car on a diet of course. Every 100 pounds equates to roughly a tenth off your time. So shaving off 500 pounds could effectively cut half a second. This off course is one of many variables in a large equation.

hmm lets see both oem lexus brakes...ls400 calipers supposedly provides more stopping power, would'nt they have to be more heavy duty? im just using common sense and if they dont weigh more then they would probably weigh the same... anyone have a set they can weigh for us???

LS calipers are made of aluminum.

LS400 calipers weigh less than oem ones if Im not mistaken.. but not by much. Just because stuff is better, doesnt mean its heavier lol.

Wonder how much removing all the abs trac shiz would cut. Dont forget the heavy stock exhaust. Get rid of big gay wheels and put some light 18's on it. if we are going crazy, tube frame the car. bumper beams are for losers... what else am i forgetting? lol... oh lexan windows... stock glass is heavy.

sucks for the 2jz owners, heavy cast iron block....1uz is lighter... essentially I guess a 1uz sc can be lighter... but stock they are heavier, go figure.

LS calipers do weigh a lot less, but the rotors are bigger and heavier, lol. I removed over 10lbs of wires from my car, thats everything except the necessities. I think 3000 lb's is achievable.

Check Battle Ver's thread, he had the car down to like 3100 with the cage if i'm not mistaking.
