I've actually owned one of those in tt form. That was before I became mechanical savy like I am today, so never got to pull it. Had a bad injector and the alignment was never right.

Now you're just tossing around numbers.
The link below show's some actual weights of the GTE.

The actual weight #'s are just a goal to hit, bit really I'm after a certain feel.
I want a car to take to the local tracks and is like it to handle,
But I'd also want that gt feel of something stable on the freeways of socal.

A lot of that also has to do with a matching suspension.

Hey BartleDoo, how do like that gixxer-drew setup? I'm assuming the bilsteins are
Stock valving? I too was wondering about a 600/400 combo.

I got a set of front manual cloth seats out of the front of a 93 Honda Accord, they are 90% as good as new. Nearly the same size and the color looks great. Working on the pass. side right now, one of the sliders is close but will have to redo three of the bolt holes. Orig. pass. seat weighs 60lbs. the accord cloth is 40. Has anyone tried to drill the floor board and tap the hole?

Probably better off getting a lightweight racing seat that will bolt in versus trying to jam an accord seat in there.

It tilts, it slides and it looks pretty sweet, also $50.00 each.

but you're only cutting a third of the weight and losing power, leather, and comfort.

Not a fan of leather, and if its cold enough to need heated Ill be driving my truck. These Accord base cloth seats are pretty comfy and have better side bolster than the orig. On the pass. seat that Im working on first, I saw today that I can use 2 of the orig bolt holes by drilling a hole in the Honda seat bracket.

Hay this is my first post I have a 1992 sc400 and was also thinking about how it would feel to go around corners if it was lightened. I've done some research about the pic ^ above all the parts you see, weighs in around 1425lbs. Which means the body, interior, windows, and fuel, should weigh 2060lbs, if the wikipedia's cerb weight is correct 3485lbs. A few years ago I built up a 1986 mr2 putting around $18,000 into parts including a 20valve 4age motor. I striped around 400lbs off a small 2 seater car without carbon fiber anything, just a fiber glass front bumper. But the reason I'm posting is I like the way my sc400 is and I'm not going to mess with it. but I have a chance to buy for cheap, a friends 1994 sc400 that was hit in the middle by a tree he's not so good at drifting apparently. I was thinking of a new project, imagine all the sc400 stuff mounted to a tube chassis then take the body of a 1980's mr2 widen it stretch it to around 100" wheelbace turbo it to around 400hp. Tube Chassis weight 200lbs, cf fg body around 250lbs, fuel and other stuff 200lbs, total 2170lbs power to weight 5.425to1 I'd be a monster, an equivalent 3485lbs sc400 would have to have 642hp to have the same p-w. The stock internals should handle 400 but 642 I don't think so atleast not for very long. If I start a build would anyone be interested here or should I post it on a mr2 forum. It's still a sc400 by soul, but a superlight oldsckool looking toyota sort of thing. I want it to look like a touring car from the 80's. What do you think?

You mean like this?
If so--I highly recommend it!!!

I have a video on Youtube of me driving just the chassis with no body. It's a short video, but still one of my favorites.
http://youtu.be/LevK4JS-cGs

Mine is a Corolla, but an MR2 would be cool--although difficult if staying mid-engined.

My chassis is very heavy at around 700 lbs. I was hoping for 2500 lbs and 500 HP for a 5:1 power to weight. Right now it is 3080 lbs with 10 gallons of gas and me in it (or about 2800 empty)--which is much heavier than I'd hoped. But at least the weight distribution is 51% front, 49% rear.
Even though it came out a little overweight, it is still much lighter than an SC400 (with way more power) so it is really quick and fun to drive. I am already thinking of doing another one with a much lighter chassis, more like what you are talking about.

Your plan is very doable, the numbers you gave are pretty realistic--you should totally do it and post it here.
