Gap should be .26-.28 and you should use NGK 6097's I think, I'll check to be sure.

The 6097's were replaced by NGK 4644. Same exact plug just different number.

Do not buy plugs with platinum because platinum gets too hot.

I've used several. These work great. Gap to .28 for your 1J Turbo Setup.
Makes a huge diffrence in smoothness and idles better than all other plugs
I have used and i've gone through several types. Get them on Ebay.

I say ebay because none of the 4 parts stores in my area carry them.

You can get the 4644 (old #6097) from any parts store. They are less than $2 each.

Just posting to verify the many others: 4644 gapped to 0.028 inches (not 0.28 haha). That's what I'm running and it's fine. I wouldn't recommend platinums because they foul easier and they cost a butt load.

ive heard this from multiple people as well
colder heat range plugs for turbo motors help keep it from pre-igniting
and finding appropriate gap of the plug your using can eliminate misfire and car breaking up
that's what Ive gathered from trying different plugs
just my $0.02
