Finished this install of the gated shifter last weekend. I love how it looks and feels compared to the dildomatic.

Hot little mod. Looks very good. Are you going to match the dash and doors to either the shifter or the wheel since it is the darkest of all the woods?

I bought an after market shift **** for my Benz and it was a few shades lighter so after it bugged me for about a week I ripped it back out and stuck the black leather one back on.

Yes I will be matching the dash and doors to the wheel. The **** is pretty close to the wheel, just a different wood grain pattern. I have already succesfully zip stripped the lacquer off of an extra dash piece and sanded it down. Now I just have to find the right stain. Just no time to mess with it right now.

Great work! Looks fantastic!

I am curious how you addressed the electronic overdrive shift into 4th gear?

Thanks,

Ryan

It will still go into to overdrive using the ecu from the old shifter. I wired it to turn the overdrive off when I flick it over into the 3 position.

So, if you shift it into third, it shuts off? Great. Then if you shift it back into 4th, the ECU shifts it back to O/D? That is cool if so, and a truly great mod. Can you share the details of the wiring?

Thanks,

Ryan

wood
If you cant find matching wood I'm sure I can print something at work. I work for a printing company and we do vehicle wraps so we can print wood look on vinyl.
