Default Yakima Rack on SC?

My Sc is *my* only car and I need extra storage space for snowboards and such...

Does anyone have the Yakima rack on the sc? I am curious on how it would look and is it stable? Also would it be easy to remove and put back on?... I don't want to have the racks on my car unless I need to use them.

Also,

Do I need that Q Stretch kit or would the regular one be fine?

I don't snowboard, but I ski and Mt. Bike, and I can use my home-made bike rack for both my bike and skis- I would just use bungie cords to lash my skis to the rack. With a snowboard, you'd want to lash them horizontally, like a spoiler.

I'm sure you'd rather use a Yakima, but in case it doesn't work out, there are alternatives.

I just got one for the back of the car (Yakima bike rack). It was like 150 but works awesome and fits 3 bikes. The fit is decent although I keep the ***** tight so my P2 doesn't come flying off In a few months I plan on getting a more permanent roof rack by Yakima though. Go get one and take a picture for me

I've got my good old Mosh BMX bike, full race spec with Nuke Proofs, Ti Spokes, YESS forks, Everything Ti or Aluminum. SPD's and all on it I think it's about sub 20lbs.

Then I've got my Specialized P2 ('03), complete with 8 inch disk brakes (6 in the rears), 4 inches of travel from the Marzocchi bomber fork, chris king headset, Easton Carbon bars and seatpost. Lots of fun

I don't have the clips yet so I just placed the rack on top of the car to show you guys.

I will not be having my kit on when I have the rack on for sure.. Well whatever gets the job done! Good thing it is removeable.

I will post more when I have the thing on and my stock bumpers and wheels back on.

If anyone gets this, I highly recommend the Q Stretch kit..

+1. It wasn't as bad as I thought from the thread title.

BTW...my friend sent me this link a few weeks ago. Bike racks don't look too bad, even on modded cars.
