just a generic AEM EMS (piggy back ecu)
you get what you pay for.

 

Hey NRG can you just break this down 4 me "AEM EMS (piggy back ecu)", what does that exactly mean. So by piggy back ecu you mean it will work only with my original ecu. How much Hp would I gain from it, will it be anything worth while, or should i just not bother with it and get a reprogrammed ecu.

It apears to me that JET is yet another company that re-programs your stock Toyota ECU. That's all.

EMS (Engine Management System) is a product by AEM (company name). It is a standalone replacement (not a piggyback) for your stock ECU. You will most likely not need it unless you start really modding your car. the AEM isn't a piggy back...its a standalone computer. it replaces your stock ECU all together. a piggyback, like an Apexi AFC, simply "assists" the computer for more tuning potential with your fuel input

power gains from the EMS depends on what your mods are and how you tune it. it isn't a simple "plug and go" computer meaning you plug it in and be dont w/ it and have fun w/ your added power....it is a "plug and play"...."play" meaning tune. the EMS requires tuning w/ your mods and works really well w/ turbocharged cars or highly built all motor cars and w/ proper tuning, 30+whp is available. if you're pretty much stock w/ just a few bolt ons, i would go w/ an AFC and get that tuned for maybe 5-10 more hp. i haven't had any experience w/ these reprogrammed ECU's by JET or Weapon-R....so i can't give you my input on those. but unless your pushing out big power right now w/ high boost....i wouldnt mess w/ the AEM.

strange.. i know tons of people that build up their car, and uses just a s/v-AFC and/or boost controller once they get the right tunning with those.. they go onto EMS...
i never met anyone that goes the backwards step..

If this were true, I wouldn't be the only one around here with Tex's headers installed and VSsc400 wouldn't be the only one with a safc installed.
