Unhappy Absolutely Desperate for a Kickdown Cable

Hi folks,

I'm absolutely desperate here. I've been trying to find a kickdown cable for my currently-dead '93 SC400 for MONTHS. I've tried all the online places that "say" they have it, only to be told upon ordering that no, it's not actually available. I ordered one from eBay, only to be shipped the wrong cable - he didn't have the correct one. My friend who owns a dealership tried his channels through his distributor - no go. I even had someone here on the forum who had one contact me, which I paid for, who was then subsequently in a car accident and is now in a coma - he didn't ship my box before this happened. Then, another person from the forum contacted me, only to defraud me of more money, and still I have no cable. I've tried EVERYTHING. I really, REALLY need a kickdown cable to get my car running again. Can anyone think of a resource to obtain this apparently unobtainable part? I could really use some help here

- In absolute desperation,
Ethan.

Only used on a 1993-1994 model, is this correct? How do you remove the cable?

I'm not sure about the years, but I've heard it's a bit of a challenge - the trans and subframe can apparently be dropped like an inch or two (without completely dropping it) and the cable then removed. That's just what someone else on this forum said though... (see here: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...ion-cable.html) LPN, by the way, no longer carries it - nor does anyone else on this side of the globe apparently

Hi Ethan, sorry to hear about your kickdown dilemma, yes that was me that mentioned that fact about dropping the subframe a half inch, keep in mind that’s obviously not by the book and that was something my mechanic friend was able to get away with because he’s a genius and he also has a rare physical trait that allows him to contort his hands in very tight spaces lol but if he can do it I’m sure someone else in the world can too. Keep in mind it wasn’t easy even for him we almost gave up and then he went back and tried again and got it and it was a huge moment of tension and then celebration. As for getting the actual cable I’m afraid I’m not much help atm, I bought that cable new probably 4 years ago from Lexus parts now website, if it helps narrow down the search my car is 95 which means that kickdown cable goes beyond model year 93. Your best bet is to find someone parting out, try joining the Facebook market place sc groups Hit up carlos santos, and the sc warehouse there’s a lot of people involved in selling our parts on fbook so I would seriously consider getting on there if for nothing else only parts. Good luck to you!

Thanks ObSCessed - much appreciated, I've requested access to the FB page - hoping someone there may have one of these cables available...

Good luck @Ethan5150, please let us know if you manage to find one and where.

As for the rest of us, I hope all our cables are strong forever!

ok so...retarded and just as desperate as this guy here but I'm currently in the process of switching things from my 96 SC400 old busted trans to new (used) hotness trans. of course the importer sliced a perfectly good kickdown cable and I'm left with old and busted from the old trans. cable bit is fine. but the mounting end to the trans is detached in 2 pieces. the plug boy that sits in the trans and the main mounting point which is now detached from plug and main cable and stuck in the middle. the past 6 hours I've hunted with no luck for 3552050010. so in the desperate and absolutely LOW IQ thing I'm doing currently is...JB WELD. because I got nothing left on this. impossible to replace and have no idea if this will work sealing wise with said plug end or even longevity of this but I am out of options. will update if this works. oh and if anyone thinks its worth throwing my money at some boys in Dubai let me know. Carmarka.com and ToyotaDBX.com got me sketched out.

Check the SC Facebook group - I finally found one from someone parting out an SC in the FB group. Paid a small fortune for it but what choice did I have?

This was after being scammed by a forum responder, so use Paypal. I insisted on seeing the part before transferring full payment (after learning my lesson the first time around). Good luck.

Is it a throttle wire cable?? I'm unfamiliar and new to this, but I looked up the part number and it says throttlebody cable.. Maybe lookup speedwaymotors.com They're appear to be a custom cable shop, but maybe its worth a shot. Never done business with them.

Yes and no...kinda? I'm not sure its purpose but its definitly a piece needed for the A340E. But thank you, I'll give speedway a look. so far JB weld has seemed to cure on the piece.. soon as rain is out the forecast I'm gonna try it out.

Since its already out, might as well take hella pictures and measurements, so you have it handy in case it goes or doesn't work. This way you don't have to deal with the hassle of needing it out to measure. just my 2 cents.
