Hello all: I recently had my climate control screen replace by the wonderful @TaninAuto. I had taken it out a few years ago but only did the repair recently and in that time I lost the screws involved in removing that climate control unit (not disassembling the unit, just getting it out of the dash). I need to replace those screws to put the climate unit back in. Can anybody help me figure out what they are? I cannot find them in the service manual either (although I could be stupid, so let me know if I've missed that). Looking for screw pitch and length, not just hex size.

These are what I'm looking for, with pictures attached:

* 6 screws that hold in the center console frame



* 6 screws that hold in the metal frame to the dash


* 4 screws that attach climate control assembly to the metal frame



Would majorly appreciate help here. This is one of the last minor steps before I can go get this car inspected for the first time!

 

The gold ones are standard metric thread. Not sure off hand the pitch and length, but I would guess M6 or M8, and anything in the 1/2" to 1" length should work fine.

The black ones look like a wood screw and are the same as is used throughout the interior of seemingly every Japanese car. There are two versions that get used in different spots, one pointy and the other a tad longer and duller tipped, but they're interchangeable.

If you find yourself at a junkyard, it's worth grabbing handfuls of fasteners as spares for times like this.

 

Weird-- I answered this thread last night but my post seems to have disappeared.

I would suggest looking up these screws in the fully detailed exploded parts diagrams for the Lexus SC300/SC400 on the Partsouq website. Any part that Toyota/Lexus ever offered for sale for these cars is listed there with its ten-digit part number. As t2d2 mentioned the screws are a fairly common sizing but it's good to get the exact sizes so as to not bore out any plastic holes beyond what should be in there holding the bezel in.

There are also some plastic clip-in retainers that go into parts of the center console below the bezel which are what the screws go into in some cases. On either side of the radio bezel the factory screws are actually a nylon plastic with a flat-head screwdriver notch.

 

I can't picture which screws you're talking about... I don't remember coming across any plastic ones. Perhaps every SC I've wrenched on has had the original ones replaced with metal by owners over the years, but that seems unlikely.
