Hey Guys, I bought that after-market Lcd from ebay for the the climate control, planing to install it myself. Since this car is new to me i don't know how to take the climate control unit out, does it have clips or screws? If anybody did it please Help ......Thanks
Easiest way, is to just tear into it. Everything is held in by screws. Pop the shift bezel out, and you will see the screws holding in the center trim around the center console. Remove those and the center trim, and you will see the 4 screws holding in the radio/CC assembly. I wish I had some pics for example, but search around a bit and Im sure you will find some.
If you can not even get even get the climate control out of the car, i don't recommend you trying to replace the lcd yourself. Your in over your head
Surface soldering is a bit different than tearing apart a dash in a car your not familiar with. I know computer programmers that have trouble using their cable TV, it just depends on what your "niche" is.
The lextreme tutorial is pretty good. I used it when I did mine. Be aware you will need to de-solder the existing LCD & resolder the new one...so if you have no soldering skills you might be biting off more than you can chew. You don't want to dump too much heat the joints & risk screwing up the circuit board. One of the hardest points & had was getting the ~40 tiny pins aligned with the ~40 tiny holes. Patience, a steady hand, & magnification help alot. I started on one end with the pins tilted relative to the holes and s-l-o-w-l-y aligned one at a time.
