Car Thief
Last night I got off of work around 11:00 PM and my driver’s side door wouldn’t open up. I tried using the key and it still wouldn’t open up. I had to go around the other side to open the door from the inside.
I tried to roll the window down and it only goes about a quarter of the way before you hear a crunch sound and it stops. When you pull up on the handle you don’t feel any resistance. I believe someone tried to break into my car.
Does anyone know how I can fix my car? Do I need to take the door off? What’s the deal with the window?

Any help would be appreciated.

hi, this same think happened to me...i don't think someone tried to get in your car. i think the rod connected from the door handle to the lock broke. there is a small plastic peice that holds the rod to the handle and it broke on both of my doors...do a search and you can find the part # for the plastic peice...its off of a toyota camry. but do not put the window down...you will break the rod and have to replace it and i don't think they sell the rod. i hope this helps..let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks for your advice. I hope it is just a plastic piece; that would make me more comfortable leaving my baby outside at work. As of now I keep peeking out every hour just to make sure it is still there. Tomorrow I will pull off the door and see what looks wrong. I am not sure of the step-by-steps of it, but I bought a CD manual. The only problem is the CD is confusing and hard to navigate.
Sorry about the need for language editing. I didn’t know that we had rules and were monitored.

Be careful while removing stuff like that. If you don't ave the right tools then if you need to pry something apart wrap masking tape over the front of the screwdriver so it will be softer on the trim.

Rather than navigate the CD, here's a link to a great site that has door removal instructions.

PS. how bad is the CD? I've been toying with the idea of getting one myself. Wanna sell me a copy of yours?

Thanks for the link. As we speak my door is off and I see the problem, I just hope I can find this little plastic piece. I have been searching these forums for hours trying to get the part number, but I keep coming up short.
Mitchell On Demand makes the CD; I can see it has a lot of content I just need to make time to learn how to navigate through all of the info.
I will make you a copy for free. It has two CD's (one Install/one program) and two floppy disks (also installs)
Just send me your address. I have plenty of blank CD's but no floppies so either send me some floppies or wait for me to buy some.
