I am leaking power steering fluid.... bottom portion of oil filter is covered in what appears to be black oil... engine oild is gold, I changed it about 2 months ago and only has about 30 miles on it before I sent the ECU off... It is the front of the engine and around the oil filter, will add ocular pleasure later... I'll do research and see what's next

Well I finally replaced my radiator, after dragging my feet, a move, new cartwheeling schedule, and a few things that keep me out of focus... Eitherway managed to separate the fan shroud from the radiator in the car and pull just the radiator out... Did get a union bolt and brass gasket in case this plan didn't workout and I had to remove the fan shroud with the radiator and deal with the fan fluid... Got a regular Denso radiator to replace the original unit, and now I have heat, cuz its cold af out here at night and early morning..

Old and busted

New Hotness

Radiator egress and fan shroud remains... didn't find anyone post something like this, so if anyone feels lazy enough it can be done... a face mask is good on this one when working from below cuz I got a drop coolant in my mouth while swearing, LOL... That's what I get I guess.. LOL..

Lost heat.... and is cold af outside, Thank you seat warmers otherwise I woulda froze in them leather seats.... gotta comb over the HCV, since I had heat previous to this and now its gone.... Additionally I have been getting some vibration in the steering wheel.. It started yesterday thought my phone was ringing, because it felt constant, except the steering wheel was making contact with my sweater and it fooled me, anything I should be looking at?

Any word on how the new ecu is performing? I just mailed mine off to get refurbished with SIA. Hoping the car will run better. Just curious if it made any difference for you.

Full disclosure, the ECU appeared to be fine before, I started having a low idle again and decided to send it in... As far as how it is? so far so good, feels like it has more power now in comparisson to before the rebuild...... Doesn't shift hard anymore either... I have 100% trust in it with the exception of driving it in the rain, cuz people lose their minds...

Took the car out for a long drive yesterday, 40 minute highway drive which is the longest I've gone with this car, speeds were between 55 and higher.... Exiting the highway coming to a stop I stalled out... dead stick, just like before 40mph off the gas, dead..... I put it in Neutral and it started right up, followed by low idle and had to hold the gas pedal till I reached my final destination.....

So, I'm at a loss right now... Had questions, but everything appeared good.

So I took it through a canyon pass, against my better judgment, that is closed on google, but its not so no traffic, and I'm familiar with the area and had enough turnouts to have options in case I stalled out. It is also a good combination of on and off the gas.. Final outcome it made the 50 minute trip with no issues whatsoever.. So I may need to look at fueling since the ECU appears to be good.

Well.. Fishbowling has come to an end... Got rejected by a few shops due to the fact that the rear window is round and not modern flat...
But on to some troubling issues... Apparently I clogged both cats... I was going to work last night I heard a pop, and my tach started going crazy, would come and go but ultimately was playing dead.... lost power, didnt't let it stall. Had a surge acceleration, no more than 40mph.... sounded rough and loud at the same time... but I was able to get it home... looked underneath and both cats were glowing red. Will have to look into it further...

I think I've found my latest issue.. This may be the last issue, hopefully the last issue with stalling.... It appears my driver side ignition coil is cracked... lol inner detonation lol.. I don't know, but the upper portion is cracked on the connection side... I removed the bracket with the coil, took me a little bit to figure out as everyone jumps over this on Youtube with the magic of editing on how to remove it due to space.... It damaged 2 screws adjacent to each other, They were both sort of soft. Long story short, I stripped both heads, extractors failed, so I tried cutting off the ends and extracting via pushing it out, but failed as well.... Ended with a dremel to both heads and using a flathead and pulling it out that way.... I'm waiting on valve cover gaskets as it sucks to have an oil stained engine. Nothing wrong with it, just when I picked this up, you could eat out this engine in comparisson to today....

Last bolt tucked in the dark took me a bit to remove.

Caked with oil cracks on both sides

Don't remember if that line is there from factory or is part of the failure as it leads to both cracks

Self explanatory

Soft screw extracted by Dremel

2nd screw extracted by Dremel

She is back up and running today.... Finally got around to installing the driver side ignition coil... I replaced both sides with Import Direct parts from O'reillys.... I have spare NGK iridium spark plugs, rotors and Denso wires ready to go for the next ignition failure, or misfire.. I cut the old bolts and replaced them with machined bolts from Holmes Depot, which I looked them up at Lexus and Toyota and were non existant....

aaaaand she's back down again, lasted 3 days, took her to work and my power steering appears to be acting up, on that note... Does anybody have any experience with the Drift Motion power steering hose?? I'm curious about it, and I searched around, seen only 1 SC400 owner that bought one 2 years ago, but never updated his thread... I'm leaking from what appears to be the high pressure hose at the pump... makes me doubt is the hose and maybe more of a pump issue... I drowned the reservoir in ATF Dextron 3, 2 nights ago and its almost all gone... haven't been able to track the leak as of yet, due to work schedule but as of now she is down, lol...

Damn, I'm sorry you're having to go through this! Only three days before something else gave way

With your power steering high pressure hose I would recommend removing it from the car and having a local high pressure hose shop that lists PS hose repairs as one of their services rebuild it for you.

I also chased PS leaks between the low pressure hoses, high pressure hose, pump and PS rack a few years ago in my SC300 until I ended up replacing them all within the span of about two years.

If your PS rack is leaking then I HIGHLY recommend getting a new remanufactured unit from a Lexus dealer. I have tried a couple of the remanufactured power steering racks from Rockauto for my SC300 and LS400 but in each case it was only the Lexus OEM reman that held up the way it should. That's one of the times where it does pay to get the factory part from a dealer for peace of mind.

A good high pressure hose shop that restores OEM high pressure power steering lines for cars and trucks shouldn't set you back too much on time getting your original back to you.
