Default During which years was the base model "hardtop" available?

I have seen 1991 and 1992 hardtop sc300s. Are there 1999 hardtop sc300s? during which years did hardtops exist?

By the way I am looking to buy a hardtop sc300. I would buy a shell as long as the frame is straight.

I don't understand your question fully. I'm going to respond based on what I think you are asking...
SC300 and SC400 are all hardtops there were no convertibles from the factory. Starting In 2002 SC430's were sold only as hardtop convertibles until 2010 when the model was discontinued. Hope this helps.
note- this is for the USA market.

I believe what he means by "HARDTOP" is no sunroof. It is a rare option. My buddy has a 99 GS300 with NO sunroof and Cloth seats.

He’s referring to the 1992-2000 SC only and to the existence and relative rarity of non-sunroof SC’s often called “hardtops” or “slicktops”.

He’s not referring to the later SC430 hardtop-convertibles.

OP, I don’t have a good answer to your question. I do know that most hardtop/slicktop (aka non-sunroof) SC’s were base auto and 5-speed models from the earlier years. After that sometimes they were special ordered but this was rare.

I recently learned of a one-owner 1997 original 5-speed 1 of 120 for sale on BAT which was special ordered by the owner/seller in ‘97 with the black interior, 5-speed manual and slicktop roof (no sunroof) so this option could be had with the right timing and circumstances at least as late as 1997. I’m not sure about 1998-2000.

I do believe there were also some early SC400’s that were optioned without a sunroof but I have yet to see any late model 400’s configured like this from the factory.

In contrast to the USA and Canada, throughout the entire production run from 1991-2000 the JDM RHD Soarer variant had many nicely optioned non-sunroof slicktop examples sold.

From window sticker that I've seen, it looks to have been optional equipment even on 1998+ models. So I guess technically you could get a slicktop if you special ordered it.

This is exactly where i am. I saw the silver/black one thats 1997. I have yet to see a photo of a 98+ slicktop. I have yet to find info confirming they dont exist either.

I found a slicktop locally but the guy lost the title.

That's both great... and sucks at the same time. Given the rarity of SC slicktops you may want to consider the options below if it's the true owner of the SC who is selling it and if the condition of the car makes it otherwise worth the effort:

Im not gonna buy it. The dmv is too congested and the asking price is too high. Plus there are large fees for re-titleing a car.

Its easier for me to move on and find another.

I found a slicktop shell from a family friend. Im going to rent a uhaul and tow dolly and go get it.

Hardtop models only sat on dealership lots during the early model years. I know they existed the most in 92 (every production cloth interior car was a hardtop with a manual column) and less in 93. It's quite possible by 1994 hardtops were purely special order. I think 94 was the last year one could order cloth interior.
BUT
Owners could special order a hardtop SC300 or 400 from 92 until 2000
