Default 2005 Lexus SC300

If a new 2005 model year SC300 with the same body as used on the 1992 through 2000 model years was available next year, would you want to buy one?

No, especially if it was selling at the 2000 prices.
I would save a ton of money and buy a used but mint
'98-2000 SC.

nah... i'd have to pass on that one. i'll admit it would be awesome to have, but it would cost WAY too much.

Well if it was that speculated newer 3 liter V6 (no not the 3.3) or maybe even the 3.3 then we might be talking enough space for twin turbos. With new body style of course.

I would say yes. Not that I could afford one, but it would be damn nice. If they did release it, it would share all the newest, most state-of-the-art Lexus amenities, such as: auto-levelling HID, adaptive headlights, DRL, auto wipers, new Lexus leather (Lexus owns its own leather tannery now), Levinson sound system, DVD-Nav, blackwood/rose burl/ivory wood trim, wood steering wheel, e-shift, 5 or 6-speed auto, gated shifter, electrochromic mirrors, imprint antenna, sick *** gauge cluster, VVTi, 3.3 liter V6, and god knows what else.... That would be player... ... but the SC renaissance is over...

The big question is: Would they offer it in a stick? Not likely, but with the up and coming Lexus performance division there might be a chance. Imagine a performance oriented SC300/400 straight from the factory! Better yet, imagine a 6MT SC400

I love the SC's classic styling but for the '05 I would want AT LEAST some cosmetic freshening to go along with all the technological changes. If not then to save money I would probably go with a clean 98-2000 like JLSC4 said.

If it looked like a 97-00, had the 4.3 L V8, and a 6-speed MT, and all the other stuff that lex400sc said, than yeah!!

......but there is hope. The pics of the new IS300 coupe look real promising. It's as close to our beloved 92-00 shape as Lexus has come. That might be the one to get!

Default How about an SC430 with the old body style?

I think I'd be up for a 2005 model with the old body style, so long as it had the engine from the SC430... otherwise, there wouldn't be much of an advantage over a really clean 2000 model year at less than half the price.

I think the current generation SC is over-styled, but a fantastic car. I love the interior, the features, etc... but it just isn't nearly as attractive from the outside as the old SC400/SC300s. Just my opinion, of course- there are surely people who like the new ones. (My wife is one of them.)

My wife too...it's one of the few things we really disagree about.

It's an attractive car, I just think it is a bit too flashy for my tastes.

However, styling aside... it truly is an exceptional automobile. Very good compromise between ride and handling, the interior is stunning-- even compared to the SC400.

I'm with you. I think it's attractive. I just think it doesn't deserve the name SC. I've been in them. Sweet sweet interior. Saw one the other day with custom wheels and had to remember what it was. I am trying really hard to like it. I am...really. It would be easier if there weren't so many of the previous ones around because they just look too darn good.
