Default UN-common SC problems?

Well unfortunately I have had a few of the common SC problems, leaky power steering pump (thought it was a 400 only problem, but I need to add fluid to my 300 every month), foggy headlight(s), tachometer light out, climate control out. But, I also have had other problems, and it looks like a few other people have had these problems as well. The answer for these problems however, are a bit harder to find. Maybe anyone else who has had these problems, or more can help me/others out. Since I have had my SC for 7 months, I have :

Window stopped rolling up or down (window regulator, driver side-$300)
AC stopped blowing cold air (Some AC brain electrical problem $280)
Auto shifter has been stuck in 'P' need to hold shift lock to get out of 'P' (mechanic did it when he fixed the ac, but has since came back)
Passenger Door wont open from outside, but opens fine from inside (new problem)
Passenger Window will not roll 100% down, only 85% down (new problem that happened with door not opening)
All 3 Brake Lights dont work (just found out about this today, thought it was because I removed my 3rd brake light, but no lights light up, need to check fuses tommorow)

Details on my car :
92 sc300, 153k
pretty hefty 2500w Audio system w/2nd battery in trunk
Viper 740xv alarm with remote start

I do however have a feeling that the remote start may have something to do with one of these problems or two, Also I seem to have bad luck with things after a mod. AC went out after I got the car back from the audio shop, Passenger Door problems happened the day I got the car back from the body shop after an accident.

If anyone would like to add to this list of 'uncommon' SC problems, please feel free to do so. If anyone can give a remedy/price/details on a repair to these problems, please let us know. I love my SC to death, but these problems are really becoming a big headache.

the auto shifter stuck is caused by your alarm.
your door wont open from outside was probably caused by the alarm installtion.
the others, i dunno..
it just seems uncommon for those problems to come up.
I just think someone installed something wrong, and caused bad electrical problems.

If your door doesnt open, its just a hook thats not clip on. open up your door panel, and rehook it.
your window might have something blocking it from rolling all the way down, try adjusting your window wheels.

All these problems just need basic fixing, very simple thing to do.
just because things break doesnt always make it a common problem.
Car just ages, thats how all cars are..
my ar is 1995, and i replaced most of the broken/bad parts on the car.

I had a few of these problems on my 93' SC300
My passenger door would not open from the outside, but from the inside ? it was weird, took it to my dads dealership ( lexus of tulsa ) and turns out that the clip for the door handle from the outside was broken off in the door ( 3$ part ? ) and the window wouldnt roll down either... thats because when the clip broke off the window would get jammed on the rod that had to connect to the clip for the passenger door... so i bent the rod down by rolling my window up and down =\ they just bent the rod back and its working fine, but it could have been much worse....

As for your brake lights out and your car not shifting out of park... check your brake light fuse... when you installed the system/remote start, you might have busted your tailight fuse, that would explain the not shifting out of park ( also happened to me and this fixed the shifter and the brake lights at one time )

As for the A/C and the other things i dont know, cuz i really dont know that much about these cars...

Hope i helped man -

Joey

Don't open the window again or you will break more stuff. The clip inside the door is broken and you are crushing the mechanisms when you lower the window. One day the window may just drop and not be able to move back up, leaving you with a permanently open window until you get it fixed. Get this fixed asap. If you keep playing with the window then your regulator will go out. It may be a good idea to replace it anyway since the labor is the same to disassemble the door and you are getting the drivers side done as well.

If you have any work that needs to be done in the area such as replace door trim parts then do this at the same time. I can not emphasize enough to people to get whatever possible done when a certain section of the car is being worked on already.

For the Leaky power stearing pump it cause by an old oil ring. So if you can take it out and replace the new oil ring it should be seal. It cost like only 10 cent or cheaper. As for the Foggy headlights go buy 2000 grid sand paper from a local autoparts store and wet sand your headlights. Do it really well, you can actually see all the calcium and deposit on it goes off. After that put on the plexy glass scratch remover (Ask for the idem at the autoparts place like and they should what it is) also you can learn how to do this at http://www.intellexual.net/faq.html#01. Your glass should look like new afterwards. And the passenger door won;t open from outside is because the metal bar act like a hook inside the door is detach. Remove the inside door panel and rehook it and it should work fine. Good Luck.

I think you were onto something when you wrote:

You don't have problems with your car. You have problems with the people who work on your car.

And regarding the ps pump leaks, I guess the 300's have them too, but at least the ps pump doesn't puke on the alternator and ruin it...

Where exactly does the hook go? Is it a yellow clip?

Thanks, Brandon

there is 2. one goes to the lock and one goes to door handle to the whole door open/lock mechanism(don't know what they call it).
anyways... one going from bottom to top which is going stright up to handle is the one you are looking for it happen do me twice. first time i was opening the door and i lose the grip from the handle and bang!!! i broke it...
so i bought the whole thing used one from this forum. i replaced it... few days later it stoped working again this time the rod just came off and it was stuck between the window glass and other stuff making my window stuck in the middle and bent it little also some how it made my inside door handle harder to open and before i even had chance to open the door panel i broke the inside door handle... well when you put back everything back on make sure that every parts are in there place and you don't have to force them to put it back... or else it will cause a problem again...

Well at least you're searching

.....but that member is ....... let's say ......unavailable. So he can't answer you back.

Perhaps someone else knows. Best thing for you to do is open the door panel and find the hook. Sounds pretty self explanatory.

Probably should invest in some manuals also, the clips for the door handles are cheap and easy to install. If they fail again you might need a new door lock mechanism, runs around $300 brand new or you can go used. PM Aliga.
