Does anyone know how many SCs (300s and 400s combined) were made over the years?

What was the most common color combo on this car?

If it helps, how do I find how many SCs (color combo) were distributed to each state?

Just curious.

Go here http://www.jkwebdesign.co.uk/lexuscl...tiontables.htm Production tables.

Do a search, I think someone did have a breakdown on colors in the past.

I once did some ball park number research and I understand that for the entire production run of SC's there were about 100,000 total made (not sure if that includes the 300's). Of the 100K or so, 70% went to the US and the remaining 30% to the rest of the world. Rough number is that 70,000 made their way here. Now I wonder how many have died and how rare will an SC400 be in 5 years. I'm in the DC metro area and I only see 1 or so every 3 to 4 weeks.

If someone comes up with accurate numbers and a break down of colors, "You're the Man (or Woman)."

I’ll state the statistics differently. 70% of the Lexus Coupe production run made it to the US. If the remaining 30% stayed in Japan, so be it. The Soarer market that consistently participates on CL is from the UK and Down under, and I have no idea what part of the 30% they are. Anyone have stats on the 30% breakout? I believe the UK is well in the thousands. Then again, I could be completely wrong……..

Wow, 5 to 7 a day..... I wonder how many the people in Boca Raton, Fl see in an average day.....

I see anywhere from 3-6 SC models a day here in Austin and the surrounding areas. Most of those I see are like mine, pre-'97. Though most are the 300 series I wonder how many of those people maintain their vehicles per Lexus specs. Everytime I am in Lexus of Austin's service department I get surrounded by RX and GS300 owners and always get comments from service writers saying what a clean car I have. Those models (GS300 & RX300) must be Lexus' bread and butter models, huh?

Sorry, I cannot imagine dropping (+/-) $27k for a 98-00 SC series. That's crazy when you can a 94-97 for less than $20k on Autotrader, eBay, or perhaps your local Lexus dealer and they look almost the same. I have noticed that SC400 models are becoming quite scarce on eBay. I'd say on any given day 80% of th ones listed are 300's and the rest are 92-93 SC400 models. I'm waiting until my wife and I have kids, then it's on to the LS, which I will own for a very, very long time.

Take care,

I see 3-4 sc's most day's here in plano tx. In my eyes the soarer/sc is already a classic! this cars shape has been borrowed/immitated soooo many times!.........ok too many around for many years to come! give it another ten years!.....trouble is, these cars run and run.
Just to change tac a little, i personally believe that lexus have shunned this car and would rather forget about it, rather than embrace this eventual classic, and be proud of the fact.Yes i know prod has stopped, and we have new models sc430 etc, i believe the lines don't compare!
I know, for sure, and if you have had the privalidge of driving the sc/soarer, the soarer family wins hands down.More subtle/soul/character.No insult intended to all you sc owners out there!

Oh i remember the first time i drove an E' type jag!!

Just need to find a place where i can hide, sorry store my soarer away from customs!!!!!

Maybe that’s why I saw soooooooooooo many SC’s on ebay from TX. The other place that seemed to crawl with them was southern FL. Here in the DC area like I said, 1 every 3 to 4 weeks. Never really saw a head turner either, except Carpe Diems, the reason I got my red SC. I guess this area, although it has the dollars, doesn’t have the number of SC’s as other parts of the country. I local market has all but dried up on 400’s which maybe because of the cheap used car market. Why sell a cream puff at a give away price. If you really don’t need to sell, don’t. As for the Soarer’s you drove or have, whichever, is it one of the exotic models or a coil spring 4 liter?

Damn, I’m leaving work now and I think I’ll go eat a BMW

During The 2000 model year I worked at Lexus of Clearlake in Houston and we only had 1 SC400 and 2 SC300 to sell new the whole year. I think toward the end they really slowed down production. In fact right now as far as purchasing I only have 2 to choose from in the whole country when it comes to lease turn ins to resale them.

Don't forget lexus in the 90's had a point to prove![merc/bmw] and i know it was very expensive to produce the soarer! these cars were highly engineerd.probably ran at a loss!
