Well that’s bizarre, I test-drove a 2000 not more then two months ago and it not only had a wood leather steering wheel, but also had a wood leather gearshift **** & wood astray and shifter surround. The car was a Lexus Certified pre-owned, I was convinced it was factory. Perhaps it was an aftermarket steering wheel.

The gear and surround pieces are OEM and that looks great! I would have liked to have seen the steering wheel. It had to be aftermarket, unless someone decided to get creative on the last 10 or so cars that came off the production line! Was the Lexus "L" tan or black like the rest of the interior or was it silver? I assume it was 3-spoke? It must have been a great match to look OEM - that's great.

It was a pewter color with a tan interior. If the outer ring was aftermarket, then it was an exceptional match to the rest of the wood. Maybe it was a GS steering wheel, I don’t know? I’m baffled to say the least.

confused:

Is a 1993 Lexus SC Steering Wheel the same as a 1991 Lexus LS steering wheel?

Will a 2nd gen wood steering wheel fit on a 1st gen?

if i am not mistaken i believe a steering wheel from a rx300 will fit in a 93 sc400, that is what i am working on right now. i have someone that can transfer my airbag into the new wheel, but you need to make sure the new wheel has a single stage airbag hookup, and not a dual stage like some newer wheels have.

Yea, I read all the post on that and gee, I'd just about kill for a three spoke wood wheel. But I'd have to find the air bag and still sent it out to have the leather matched to my interior.

If the car was a 2000, I could see the previous owner pulling the parts from a 98-00 GS300 (w/o E-Shift). The gateshifters look identical between the two cars (explaining the shift ****), and the wheels look identical from what I can tell (although with steering wheels you can never be sure unless they're actually disconnected and you can see all of the connectors, hub ring, etc.

Last I heard, Lexus wanted $1100 for a wood/leather wheel at the parts counter (makes the $650 I paid at BMW for my 3-Series look like a bargain).

Edit: Doesn't Manaray have an RX300 wheel on his SC400? I know he upgraded to a 3-spoke, can't remember if it is an RX or GS wheel.
