Hoping someone with more experience could shed some light as I've been searching for quite a while and can't find a solid answer. Is there a difference between say a jdm ecu for a 93 soarer 1uzfe and a usdm 93 sc400 1uzfe? Are these two ecu interchangeable? I ask because I'm looking to purchase a Mines ecu which they made for the uzz30 90-93 soarers with the 1uz. Spoke to one of their reps via email and he asked if my car is jdm right hand drive soarer or usdm stating that if usdm they cannot help me. I have run across a couple threads online of people using Mines ecu in their celsiors and soarers for the 1uz which is why I'm a little confused. Unless those people were not in the US. If the stock usdm ecu and stock jdm ecu are interchangeable I honestly don't know why it wouldn't be plug and play.
This is a good question. I know there's a huge difference in the 96+ USDM and JDM ecus (OBD2 being the major one). But as for early OBD1 cars, there shouldn't be many differences besides whether they are Cali OBD1 or federal OBD1. The only issues I could see happening is if you were trying to use a UZZ31 or UZZ32 ecu in a UZZ30 since both of those models had electronics that were absent on the base UZZ30 (Soarer and SC400s)

Thank you for the reply. I was also under the same impression that the uzz30 would be the same since I have a 93 and I believe uzz30 was 91-93. But was hoping for some knowledgable chime ins before I pull the trigger. I really want to try it out for a nice little power adder that is basically plug and play. Didn't jdm soarer have the digital cluster? Or was that also on the 95 up models only? Assuming that would be ecu differences controlling that.
