Default Ultimate collectible SC?

I was just thinking as it is fun to wonder and speculate; which Lexus SC will lead the pact in terms of desirability and in conjunction price realizations in the future?

They arenít really collectible yet but low mileage examples are starting to be snapped up and taken out of daily rotation. The car has some classic indicators such as a strong name (for a Japanese brand), 2 doors, modest production with high attrition, some history with the Supra genes and part support to end up collectible. Not to mention a classic design

There easy answers are the late 98-2000 sc400 and the 5speeds to include the 97. Some might think that colors will play a part as it typically does but I see colors adding lquidity more than value. A RSP 5 speed might be the current king of the mountain but there might not be one of those in collectible condition left and most of the value is in the 97 5speed with the color just being popular with enthusiasts. The few options and deletes arenít money makers either IMO.

I could see the 5 speeds being the king for the next 10-15 years but once people start seeking them out, I suspect the V8s across the board will be the ones to have.

My hypothesis is a low mile 2000 SC400 in red will be the king of the price board once collectiblity takes hold. With a few 97 5 speeds nearby. What say you?

Trying hard not to toot my own horn here, but I feel that my original, clean title & carfax DWP/Black '97 5spd is pretty darn collectible.

An original 1997 5 speed Shadow Rose Quartz

That doesn't tickle the fancies of fanboys but it does fit the bill of something worth a lot of money in the future.

It's everything a RSP car is but 1/4 the production numbers.

It's so rare that 75% of current SC owners don't even know SRQ was a factory color

Have we seen a '97+ that was a hardtop? Figured the sunroof was standard equipment by that point.

I know the 97 at least did have a handful of hardtops built in many colors. Not sure of the 98+.

Theres a guy on here with a RSP 5-speed. Think his was a 97?

i guess that is sort of the question. I am not aware of s collectible RSP hardtop 5speed. I know three low mile 5 speeds (92, 97, 97) that traded for between 11-15k. But just to use the rose color example with the two tone interior. Rare but not ideal desirable although most likely the lowest mile 97.

Are there any low mile 00 Sc400?

ISFFUN had/has a '97 RSP 5spd. Also, you are correct. I have now seen a '97 hardtop and am a believer.

I have a 1997 RSP hardtop manual. They exist. The manual part isn't original to the car but the paint color and hardtop are.

there was one for sale in San Diego.. 14.9K original miles.. 5-speed too, was gorgeous. I was torn between saving a little extra to get that or get the one I have now, and I went with my gut thinking they would both sell and I'd miss out on both before I had enough for the SRQ. I was right, too! It sold not long after I got mine
