My method has been to soften the adhesive with a good adhesive remover (3M) and then gradually work the emblem free by hooking it under the edge and tugging and working around. Keep applying more adhesive remover as you go. Dental floss also works pretty well to pull with. Don't pry use anything metal or you may scratch/dent.

When I had one replaced by the dealer, they just used a metal hook to get under the edge and pulled. The emblem came off (in pieces) and then they used the adhesive remover to cleanup with. I prefer the first method but, if you don't care about breaking the emblems, the second one is much faster.

Off topic; If they aren't in too bad condition, I'll trade for them.

This probably got asked a million times but, do they have screws holding the emblems? or just glue?

By the way, i think the L badges on the trunk lid and hood are held on with pins, not adhesive. I have had no reason to try and remove those.

if you get youself some hi-test fishing wire, you can slide it under the emblems and get them off that way.
and it wont scratch the finish.

does anyone know how many pins and/or how large the pins are on the pre-97 "SC_X00" emblems?

Some new badges came in today and it only looks like the pins are used to hold the emblems in their proper place and not into the car. I'm sure that the pre-97 hood emblems have pins on them but the 97+ emblems I ordered did not have pins on the hood emblem (but i didn't order them from lexus).

I was going to use a blowdryer and fishing string to remove the emblems. I like the adhesive remover idea though, is it safe for the paint? Maybe I'm wrong (somebody will clear it up) but when putting on new emblems, be sure to remove the old wax and thoroughly clean the area (isopropyl alcohol?).

ok, i only used fishing wire and it came off pretty easy.

i've only removed the SC_400 emblem and it has 3 holes underneath it. unfortunately i could not get all the glue residue off so now there is an imprint of SC_400 on the back... nothing has been able to remove it. oh well, i'll just have the body shop repaint the rear bumper when they do the rest
