yes i searched but could not find a definitive answer
i have a 92 and need to know what years will interchange. im not worried about r12 or r134. i know they bolt up but will the lines in to the compressor fit the same? local yard has a 96 and i dont want to waste my time pulling it if i cant use it.
The only difference that I am aware of is if you order one from a parts house the models that came with R12 will come pre oiled with mineral oil and the later ones with PAG oil for R134. But confirm to be sure. If you get the junkyard one from a 96 it will have PAG in it obviously.
i have previously verified that a set of r134 lines from a 96, although look identical the fittings are slightly larger and the pressure regulator/expansion valve setup is different as well. my only worry is that the fitting itself is not going to fit. i ended up getting my low side line repaired since i couldnt use the newer lines.
just an update for anyone else. The top plate is interchangeable (4 bolts and a gasket). I used my top-plate on the newer model compressor with no problems.
so yes- 92-00 compressors are interchangeable but you may need to swap the top plate depending on your year.
