running efans
I want to get rid of the stock mech fan, what are you guys using for a 12v switched? I went in fuse panel, absolutely nothing to use for 12v! found a bunch if constant lol but no switched
the problem with tapping from the engine harness , every time you take out that harness , you will have to undo that wiring and an electrical short or malfunction on your efans will affect your running engine like tripping or damaging engine fuses / relays or even the ECU since you are trying to get power from same source they use.
If I want a switched power in the bay , I always tap on the washer motor . One of those wire is hot when Ignition is switched to IG1 (after accessories before IG2 or ST). It is also protected by the 20amp Wiper fuse. So any electrical short or malfunction on your efans circuitry will just trip that fuse and won't affect your engine functionality.
My question to the OP is why you want to turn on your efans even before your car is just about to start ? If you don't have an aftermarket ECU to control them , why don't you use a temperature switch installed on the bottom of the radiator ? That is turning them on at a certain temperature ? If you don't get to start your car quick then you run the risk of draining your battery since you are switching on the fans even before the car had started .
