Default Hi, i'm new here

Hi everyone, my name's Paul, as I’m sure most of you figured, and I’ll be buying an sc300 within the next month or two. I think the car's got everything I want in one right now, as far as a nice luxury feel and a sporty chassis as well. I've got a few maintenance questions regarding buying a used sc300 that I hope some of you guys can answer for me.

1.) Are there any addressable problems common among all or most sc300's that come over time?

2.) How does the n/a I6 stand up to use over time? At about what mileage does it start to show signs of fatigue?

3.) I've noticed that the car's got the same plastic headlights that many other cars have. That basically means (and I’ve noticed) that they start to get that dirty-yellowed look. Are there any glass headlight housings or headlight housing covers on the market? If they had a jdm glass headlight housing, or something aftermarket that'd be awesome.

4.) I'd like some over all opinions from people in regards to the overall car itself. Don’t sugar coat anything, b/c I’m going to get one anyway, I just want to know a bit more about the car beforehand

5.) Are there any Lexus sc300/sc400 forums out there on the net? I haven't been able to find any other than this one.

Thanks a lot for answering some or all of my questions guys, and I look forward to being an active member over time

Hi Paul, welcome to ClubLexus. Looks like the FAQ would answer most of your questions. Try reading up there first: http://www.intellexual.net/faq.html As far as other SC forums, yeah, they are out there, but this is the largest most popular USDM one around, so you'd get the most feedback here. Good luck with the purchase!

Hi Paul, welcome.

Plastic headlights? I don't think so.

Paul, no alternative headlight housings are available, but Xpel does make a thin protective membrane you can put over it to prevent high-speed rock chips (I think it absorbs all the impact of a gumball-sized rock shot at 90mph with no damage) and would prevent mildew (cloudiness) build up as well.
