I'm getting real sick of the gated shifter look on my 400, and would like to modernize it a bit. I like it to look like the leather shifter from the newer automatic bmw's. Has anyone done this to their gated shifter? The rectangular opening seems small enough to custom fit one of those leather boot replacements for bmw's off Ebay. And all I have to do is get a black lexus shifter. That'll be badass!

 

Look up automatic ***** shifter mod. One of the users did it to his 92-97 style shifter. For your application, I'd imagine it would probably be as easy as removing the gated shifter panel and snapping in an OEM 5-speed shifter panel. Driftmotion.com sells them I believe. I had to pick one up to do my 5-speed swap.

Post pictures if you do it. I think it'd look pretty good.

he removed the wood grain shifter surround and put the 5spd boot in place

 

ill take the gated shifter incase you dont use it

 

I know what your looking to do or the look your after. I have something similar that I am still working on. I want to make a Silver Or Chrome trim piece to cover the leaher. Grant mines is for a Manual. The look should be similar

is the top of your dash black?how did you do that?what paint did you use?

 

The Top of my Dashboard is Black. I Swapped it out for an OEM Black DashBoard

 

Was it a pita to swap the dash?
